All rights reserved. http://theusgenweb.net/copyright.htm http://theusgenweb.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA January 5, 1956 Choudrant Driver Dies in Accident A 54-year-old Choudrant man was killed instantly about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in a traffic accident at the intersection of the Delhi and Warsaw roads in Franklin parish that completely demolished both vehicles involved. He was A. C. Audirsch, a resident of Lincoln parish for 25 years. According to witnesses, Audirsch, driving a 1955 Dodge dump truck west, ran a stop sign at the intersection, crashing into the 1951 GMC two-ton truck driven by Ernest Matthews, 31-year-old negro of Chase, who was traveling north on Louisiana highway 17. Audirsch died instantly of a fractured skull and internal injuries. Neither Matthews or the passenger in his truck, Roosevelt Bingham, negro, also of Chase, were injured. Shortly after the accident both were helping to shovel up the cottonseed with which the Matthews truck had been loaded at the time of the accident. Investigating officer was State Trooper H. R. “Red” Phillips. The dead man is survived by six daughters, four sons, five brothers and a sister. Funeral services for him were at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Choudrant.
