Tow men by the name of Haines and Chisholm got into a fight about mortgaged cotton. A brother-in law of Haines named Valentine shot Chisholm with a Winchester rifle and fled. Some of Chisholm’s friends took up the difficulty and shot Haines several times, killing him. No arrests have been made. Haines’ body was allowed to remain where he fell from Saturday night until Sunday afternoon.
