One of Them by Her Brother – Terrible Family Row in Louisiana NEW ORLEANS, LA, June 6 – There was a double killing on the Jackson place in Franklin parish Friday night. Ed Thomas, who is a married man, turned his wife out of doors some days ago, and in favor of a woman by the name of Amanda Henderson, who was also married. This outrage aroused his neighbors, and particularly the members of his own family, who were very indignant at his conduct. Friday night four of his sisters name Catharine, Lothe, Viola and Louisa went over to his house to warn the woman Amanda to leave the place. She refused to do so, and announced her purpose to remain. The four sisters then entered the house and attempted to eject her. A serious scuffle ensued. Thomas coming to the rescue of his mistress with a heavy club. In the melee Amanda was stabbed by one of the women—by Catharine, it is supposed—and almost instantly killed. Louisa was fatally wounded by her brother, who beat her over the head with his club, knocking out her brains, and the other sisters were seriously injured by him. The women were arrested, charged with murder, but Thomas succeeded in making good his escape.
