Hwy. 838 about 9 1/4 miles west of West Monroe. He was traveling to Monroe when the mishap occured. Investigating troopers said that Polk apparently lost control of his truck while traveling around a curve. The vehicle skidded off the right side of the highway and overturned several times. Polk was thrown from the truck's cab and killed instantly. The truck skidded approximately 200 feet off the right side of the highway, which was curving to the left, overturned several times and traveled another 85 feet before coming to a stop, state police reported. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
