John Kinde, stave maker, aged 55 years was drowned in Bayou Macon Sunday at noon at Warsaw, 12 miles south of Delhi. Kinde had been engaged in making staves with Walter Wyatt Madison parish. Sunday the two started to Delhi by auto. When they reached the bayou, Wyatt got out of the care (sic car) and Kind drove it upon the ferry, where he lost control of the machine. It struck a car owned by Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pepper, knocking it into the bayou. Kinde's car with him at the wheel followed the other auto in the stream. Efforts to rescue him from the bayou met with failure. The body was rescued Tuesday at three o'clock by Franklin parish convicts who had been carried to the scene. The body had remained under water for 53 hours. The remains were brought to Winnsboro and interment was made in the local cemetery. Kinde, a European, had been in this country for the past fifteen years. He had no relatives here, his entire family having been left in Europe.
