E. Pickles Woman Dies As Result Of Hurt In Car Wreck Negro Held In Franklin Jail Charged With Manslaughter "Frank Atkins, negro, is now in jail, charged with reckless driving and endangering the lives of other people. "Last Sunday, while, undoubtedly 'airing out' at an unlawful rate of speed, Atkins, in his truck, attempted to pass an automobile driven by a woman, the automobile containing several women and children. The automobile was forced off the road by the truck, turning over and breaking several bones in the body of one lady and seriously injuring several other occupants of the automobile. "Atkins was immediately placed in jail." The above news item appeared in the Franklin Sun last week. Mrs. J. E. Pickles of near Delhi, one of the occupants of the automobile died last Thursday as a result of injuries received in the wreck. The accident occurred on the Winnsboro-Delhi road in Franklin Parish near the parish line. Atkins is now in jail charged with manslaughter. -------------------------------------------------------
