Empties Gun At Victim Sheriff Captures Fugitive After Short Chase.    Charlie D. Allen, wife of Mose Allen, a negro, was lodged in the parish jail by Sheriff Allen L. Price Monday night after she had shot and killed Annabel Woods, another negress, following a hot argument over which of the two women held the right to Mose Allen. The shooting took place in a house in the negro quarters here, where they met while calling on another negro woman. Six shots were fired, three of which took effect. One entered the left jaw, another the breast, and the third went in the right side of the neck and lodged against the opposite collar bone. According to Sheriff Price, anyone of the shots would have killed her. The Allen Negro claimed that the other woman had lived with Mose Allen before he was married, and was still trying to get him back, which the other resented and challenged the Allen woman to a fist fight. She was holding a baby, which she turned to lay on a bed, and as she turned again to face the other woman, found herself covered with a gun. The Allen woman began firing and Annabel Woods crumbled to the floor in a lifeless heap. Sheriff Price was immediately summoned, but the murderer fled before he arrived. After a hasty inspection off the body the sheriff took up the chase and captured her soon afterward near Lowentritt's store. She was at once taken to the parish jail, where she will remain awaiting trial at the April term of court. The body of the victim was buried here Tuesday. --------------------------------------------------
