Three Killed in Wreck
 
Three persons were killed and two injured in a head-on collision 
which occured around 9:30 p.m. on La. 4 one mile east of Winnsboro, Dec. 5.
Those fatally injured were Phil Shaw, 37, of Winnsboro; Melvin Brown, 20, 
of Gilbert; and Willie Ann Hart, 17, of Winnsboro, according to state police.
Injured in the accident were K. C. Doyle, 16, and Elaine Hart, 16, both of 
Winnsboro. They were taken to a Monroe hospital with undetermined injuries.
The car driven by Brown reportedly burst into flames but was extinguished 
before the arrival of authorities.
According to state police, the three persons killed in the accident were dead 
at the scene and apparently died instantly.
Also on the scene at the accident was Sheriff Eugene Parker and deputies of the 
Franklin Parish Sheriff's office.
The bodies were taken to the Richardson Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
