Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon. Mr. Lord had long been identified in agriculture and allied industries in Franklin parish, and his consistent record of honesty and fair dealing had built for him a circle of friends throughout Franklin and Richland parishes. Upon his retirement from active business life, he turned his affairs over to his sons, who have been carrying on in the same manner instituted by their father many years ago. Mr. Lord's passing brought profound grief to the entire parish. But there is great consolation in the knowledge that an earthly life well lived merits Heavenly reward. May he rest in peace. ----------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA November 3, 1932 Submitted January 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Elmer Newman Elmer Newman Is Laid To Rest Funeral services were held at Gilbert last Wednesday for Elmer Newman who died Tuesday from a bullet wound received a few weeks ago when he was accidentally shot while working in his father's corn field.
