Tucker, December 12, 2005 tuckarb701@aol.com JOE BROCATO LAID TO REST LAST SATURDAY Joseph M. Brocato, 38, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Outwood, Kentucky, on Friday August 5th, after several months’ illness. Mr. Brocato was born in New Orleans, and moved to Franklin Parish where he had made his home. He was married to Miss Marie Tucker of Gilbert on August 14, 1924, and to this union three children were born. Mr. Brocato is survived by his wife; three children, Don, Charles and Jean Marie Brocato of Gilbert; his mother Mrs. F.C. Brocato of New Orleans; four brothers and one sister, all of New Orleans. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Ira W. Flowers, pastor of First Methodist church of Gilbert officiating. Interment was made in the Ward cemetery, east of Gilbert. Active pallbearers were; Walter Woods, Dr. R. E. King, Dr. J. O. Henry, Berry Gardner, Curtis Tucker and S. C. Moore, 82, died at his home in Ft. Necessity, Tuesday night at 12:30. He had been in failing health for the past several years. Mr. Moore has been a resident of Franklin parish for 65 years. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. J. J. Harrison of Winnsboro; and two sons, W. E. Moore and A. A. Moore of Ft. Necessity. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, Rev. Father Gremillion, of the Winnsboro Catholic church officiating. December 1, 1938 Funeral and burial services for Mrs. B.W. Thompson, 83 who died Saturday about 4:45 p.m. in the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.J. Joyce, Sr. in Kilbourne, following a brief illness of pneumonia, were conducted Sunday at 12:30 p.m., from the Joyce residence and continued at a Collinson Cemetery where interment took place at 2 p.m. The Rev. J.A.O. Russell, pastor of the Kilbourne Baptist Church, officiated during the rites, with the Rev. C.K. smith, pastor of the First Methodist Church of West Monroe, saying the closing prayer at the grave. Mrs. Thompson, who only recently celebrated her 83rd birthday, was stricken last Monday night with pneumonia developing Tuesday. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J.J. Joyce,Sr., Mrs. J.T. Pugh, Monroe, and Mrs. C.L. Chennault, Ferriday; four sons, R.P. Thompson, Winnsboro, Dr. J.F. Thompson, Wilmont, Ark; and Walter and Will Thompson of Los Angeles, Calif. 23 grandcildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Pat Chennault, J.J. Joyce, Jr., Toney Janes, Dutch McDowell, J.T. Pugh, and J.J. Joyce Sr. She had been a resident of West Carroll for more than 28 years, moving here from Winnsboro following the death of her husband. She was born in Morehouse Parish. ----------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA February 24, 1938 Submitted May 2007 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Funeral Held For Mrs. Roxie Turnage On Friday February 18th, death came to Mrs. Roxie Turnage, 27, after an illness of only three days. She was preceded in death by a little baby daughter, who died a few moments after birth. Roxie was born on November 9th, 1910, and married Marshal Turnage on June 1, 1929. Her life was one of service in her church and community, being a christian from early childhood. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. T. J. Ratcliff at Beouff (sic Boeuf) River Baptist church at Liddieville on Sat- Interment was made in the Ogden cemetery. Mrs. Turnage is survived by her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. H. Willis Passed Away Last Thursday W. H. Willis, 86, one of the oldest citizens of Franklin Parish passed away on Thursday, July 28th at 7:00 P. M. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Scriber at Fort Necessity. Mr. Willis was born on October 27, 1852 in Caldwell Parish. In 1876, he was married to Miss Louise A. May. Moving to this parish in 1905, he made his home most of the time with his daughter Mrs. Scriber. He leaves three children, Mrs. W. H. Scriber, of Ft. Necessity; Mrs. L. E. Nugent of Winnsboro; and W. B. Willis of Liddieville; and 18 grandchildren. Mr. Willis was a member of the Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge. Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a.m. and interment was made in the Ogden Cemetery.
