Austin Lord, resident of Ward 6, near Baskin died at the age of 45 in her home Thursday, January 5, at 6 a.m. Funeral services were held at Mixon church Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. J.H. Keyes, officiating. Interment was made at Mixon cemetery. Mrs. Lord is survived by her husband, J. Austin Lord, and eight children, Austin, Zula, Ula, Ruby, J.D., Willene, Pauline and Earl. Stillborn *********************** The Franklin Sun January 19, 1939 Submitted by Karen Sue McNease One month old Infant Dies Harold Loyd Peoples, one-month old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Peoples of near Winnsboro, died in a Monroe hospital Sunday, January 8. Interment was made at the new city cemetery, with the Rev. L.T. Hastings of Monroe officiating. The funeral was held under direction of the Winnsboro Funeral Home. ***************************** The Franklin Sun January 19, 1939 Submitted by Karen Sue McNease Baskin Resident Dies After Long Illness L.L. Mock, Baskin, died here shortly before midnight Saturday, January 14, at the age of 45. Funeral services were held in Baskin at 3 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. Hooks of Rayville and Rev. Keys of Baskin officiating. Interment was made in the family cemetery near Baskin. Mr. Mock is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Mock; four daughters, Mrs. Arnold Lord of Baskin, Mrs. Jodie Lane of Rayville,Miss Mildred Mock of Winnsboro, and Miss Lorice Mock who is a patient in a New Orleans Hospital; two sons, Joe Edward and Sidney Ray, both of Baskin; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.T. Mock of Baskin; three sisters, Mrs. J.O. Womble of Winnsboro, Mrs. J.B. Richardson of Sterlington and Mrs. Jack Roark of Winnsboro; and one brother, Harry R. Mock of Baskin. Tillman Mother of Local Man Dies Suddenly after Long Illness Here Mrs. W.E. Tillman age 58, passed away at 3:15 Tuesday morning here in the home of her son, Charles Tillman. Her death was sudden, although she had been suffering from a lengthy illness and had been confined to her bed for several weeks. Her home was in Mangham. The funeral was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Mangham Baptist church. Rev. Roger M. Baxter of the Mangham Baptist church officiated, assisted by Rev. Dana Terry , pastor of the Winnsboro Baptist church. Interment was made in the Mangham cemetery. Mrs. Tillman had made her home in Mangham for the past 33 years and was actively connected with activities there. She was a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by her husband, W.F. Tillman; two sons, Charles Tillman of Winnsboro and Tommie Tillman of Newellton; and two daughters, Mrs. Henry Drexler of Winnsboro and Mrs. Clee Tillman, Jr. of Mangham. Services were held under direction of the Winnsboro Funeral Home. ************ The Franklin Sun January 26, 1939 Submitted by Karen Sue McNease Funeral of Baskin Woman Held Sunday Lola Lorraine Houston Mrs. Lola Lorraine Houston died at the age of 68 at a hospital here about midnight Saturday. Her home is in Baskin, although both she and her husband had been hospital patients in Winnsboro for the past week. Mr. Houston remains in a critical state of health. Services were held Sunday in Baskin, with Rev. J.H. Keys of Baskin officiating. Interment was made at Coax cemetery at 2 p.m. Mrs. Houston is survived by her husband, Jessie Houston, and ten sons and daughters, who are Henry Houston, Baskin; Viola Upton, Canton; Lee Houston, Ellisville; Ethel Rawles, Crowville; Robert Houston, Baskin; Allie Reagan, Baskin; Bomar Houston, Seminary; Athel Houston, Baskin; J.C. Houston, Baskin and J. Odis Houston, Baskin. ****************
