Fain Father of Seven Children Dies Here at Age of 74 J. R. Fain age 74, father of seven children, died at a hospital here last Thursday, July 6 at 12 o'clock, He was buried in the Egypt Cemetery on Friday. Services were conducted by T. G. Polk, with the assistance of A. C. Trapp, and R. E. Weeks. Mr. Fain is survived by his wife; four sons, Clayton Fain, Wyatt, La., and Jess, Clinton, and Jeffie Fain of Winnsboro; and three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Chandler of Jonesboro and Mrs. Dicie Davis and Mrs. C. D. Barfield of Winnsboro. Active pallbearers were T. L. Reeves, B. Nichols, W. M. Stroud, W. M. Barfield, J. E. Barfield and R. E. Emfinger. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Winnsboro Funeral Home. ----------------------------------- The Franklin Sun July 6, 1939 Submitted by Karen Sue McNease Mr. J.T. Hightower Mangham Citizen Passed Away Sat. Mr. J.T. Hightower, aged 60, well known citizen of Mangham died at his home in that place Saturday morning at 2 o'clock, after an illness of about ten days of pneumonia. Deceased came to this section about twenty years ago from Clairborne parish and engaged in farming until the time of his death. He is survived by three sons, Reul of Monroe, James of Winnsboro and Calvin of Summerfield, and two daughters, Mrs. Joe Stansberry of Farmerville and Miss Lucile Hightower of Mangham. Other near relatives are three brothers, E.C. and T.T. Hightower of Summerfield, O.S. Hightower of Bernice, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Corley of Many, one grandchild, C.S. Stansberry, and several nephews and nieces. The body was carried back to the old home in Clairborne parish and interred at the cemetery at Weldon, Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, Rev. B.C. Smith of the Baptist church, of which church deceased was a member, officiating. Pallbearers were Bill and T.T. Hightower, of Homer, Fred Arant of Summerfield, W.C. Faust of Weldon, C.E. Stansberry of Farmerville and Gene Corley of Natchitoches. Mr. Hightower was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Meisnar Old and Respected Parish Citizen Passes Away Mrs. J.C. Meisnar, aged 72, one of the older citizens of Franklin parish, died early Sunday evening at the home of her son-in-law, J.A. Partin, on the Lone Cedar road, from the infirmities of age and a heart ailment. She is survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, her husband and three daughters, all married, preceding her to the grave. she had been a resident of the parish for 62 years and was a lifelong and active member of the Baptist church. Funeral services and interment were held at Lone Cedar Baptist church, Monday afternoon, Rev. T.G. Polk, pastor officiating. The active pallbearers were Raleigh Milby, Bob Parker, Melvin Wilson, A.E. Tubberville, Duncan Parker, J.D. Parker, Ogie Erskin, and Robt. Milby. Mulhearn Funeral Home had charge of the funeral. ****************** The Franklin Sun July 13, 1939 Submitted by Karen Sue McNease James Wilburn Mullican Prominent Planter Dies Saturday At Home In Baskin James Wilburn Mullican, 85, a prominent Franklin parish farmer, died at his home in Baskin at 3 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services were held at Union Church Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, followed by interment in the Union cemetery. The Rev. J. H. Keyes of Baskin officiated at the services. Mr. Mullican is survived by three daughters Mrs. Jo Ann Young of Purvis, Miss., Mrs. J. H. Lay, Zeberdee, La., and Mrs. A. L. Griffin of Monroe; three sons Burton, Davis and Sam, all of Baskin; and one sister, Mrs. Sara Jane Greer. Active pallbearers at the funeral Saturday were Adam Childress, John L. Twiner, Dave Fox, L. O. Garvin, Monroe Bradshaw, and K. T. Searcy. Mulhearn's Funeral Home had charge of making funeral arrangements. ***************** The Franklin Sun July 6, 1939 Submitted by Karen Sue McNease M.F. Pylant Prominent Resident of Crowville Community Dies Friday Last M.F. Pylant, aged 69, died suddenly at his home on the Hill Ridge Road, near Crowville, Friday night from a heart attack. The deceased was a native of Tennessee and came to Franklin parish about thirty years ago, establishing his home near Crowville and soon becoming one of the substantial and highly esteemed citizens of his community. Mr. Pylant is survived by his wife, three sons, Asberry of Crowville, Herman of Winnsboro, and Floyd of Bisbee, Ariz., four daughters, Mrs. Jim Day of Monroe, Mrs. Miles Green of Kilbourne, Mrs. A.H. Harper and Mrs. Herman Beale of Crowville, and several grandchildren. Two brothers survive, L.L. and Geo. Pylant of Waco, Texas. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.S. Wroten of the Baptist church of which deceased was a member, and interment made in the New Crowville cemetery Saturday afternoon at four o'clock. Winnsboro Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral. ************************ The Franklin Sun March 16, 1939 Submitted by Karen Sue McNease Albert Wiggins World War Veteran Dies In Alexandria Albert Wiggins, World War Veteran who lived on the Lone Cedar road, died at the veteran's hospital in Alexandria last Thursday, Surviving Mr. Wiggins are his wife, three children and several brothers. He was buried at the Oak Grove cemetery at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, where an impressive ceremony was presided over by Rev. Tom Ratcliff. The flag that draped his coffin was presented to Mrs. Wiggins after the interment services. The funeral was directed by the Winnsboro Funeral Home. *******************************************
