Harper Final Rites Held For W. J. Harper Final rites were conducted Sunday afternoon for W. J. Harper, 76-year-old Franklin parish leader, who succumbed early Saturday morning at his home in Crowville. He had been ill for an extended period. Funeral services were from the Crowville Baptist church, with the Rev. C. S. Wroten officiating, and Masonic burial rites followed at the Crowville Masonic cemetery, where interment was made. A large concourse of friends and relatives gathered to pay respects to the memory of the deceased, who was a long-time resident of this section. Serving as pallbearers were Bailey Martin and N. L. Hower of Winnsboro, Arthur Riser, J. W. Byrd and Jake Netherland of Crowville and P. L. Dark of Monroe. Mr. Harper is survived by four sons and four daughters; R. D., W. L. and J. A. Harper, all of Crowville; E. C. Harper, Mangham, Miss Alma Harper and Miss Essie Harper, Crowville; Mrs. W. A. Dunn, West Monroe, and Mrs. E. J. Street, Leesville. Tucker tuckarb701@bellsouth.net January 25, 2006, 5:22 pm Mrs. Dora (Tucker) Lackey Rome News Tribune, Rome,GA May 5, 1941 MRS LACKEY, 71, PASSES SATURDAY Mrs. Dora (Tucker) Lackey, 71, died at the residence of a daughter, Mrs.W.C. Bennett, 24 Ross Way Circle, Saturday night following a five months' illness. Her condition had been serious for the past week. Mrs. Lackey was born in Spring Place in 1870 and had lived in Rome for the past 32 years. She had been a member of the North Rome Church of God where services were conducted this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock with the Rev. S.W. Latimer, church Pastor, officiating. Interment followed in the family lot in Oakland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers at last rites were Arthur Latimer, John Maxwell, C.B. Bradford, A.R. Howell, E.M. Hall and Marvin Robinson. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Lackey's survivors are four other daughters, Mrs. Ira M. Grinell and Mrs. Gene Cordle, of Rome; Mrs. L.B. Winkle and Mrs. Gussie Gibbs, of Chattanooga; two sons, Paul and James E. Lackey, of Chattanooga, one brother, Charles B. Tucker, of Gilbert,La.; 18 Grandchildren and one great grandson. Additional Comments: Dora Tucker was born March 2, 1870 in Spring Place,Murray County,GA to James K. Polk Tucker and Emma E.L. Maulden. Her father, James, move to Franklin Parish,LA about 1874, he married Edna "Eddie" A. Killian 2nd wife, December 21, 1876. She was the brother of Charles B. Tucker who lived in Gilbert,LA. ********************* The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA May 8, 1941 Submitted Jan. 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Resident of Mangham Dies Saturday Night M. M. Martin, 64-year-old resident of the Mangham community, died at his home last Saturday night, after an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Newlight church, and interment was made in the Ogden cemetery, with the Rev. J. J. Smith of Darnell officiating. Pallbearers were Pete McCarty, O. N. Flinton, Corbin Sanderford, A. E. Tubberville, R. H. Guice and Charlie Ellington. Surviving Mr. Martin are: His wife, Mrs. Robbie Martin; three sons, J. A. Martin, Lake Providence, George Martin and Joe Martin, both of Mangham; three daughters, Mrs. Katie House of Boies, Mrs. Clara Roberson of Forest and Miss Lensetta Martin, Mangham. Funeral services were under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral home. *********************************************
