Wooten ********************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA January 14, 1943 Submitted October 2008 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Malisa Farrell Rites for Mrs. Farrell Are Held at Baskin Last rites for Mrs. Malisa Farrell, 64, of Baskin, who died in a Monroe hospital on New Year's day, were held Saturday afternoon at the Crowville Baptist church, with the Rev. C. S. Wroten officiating. Interment followed in the Crowville cemetery, under the direction of First National Funeral home. Mrs. Farrell is survived by her husband, R. F. Farrell; three sons, Felix Montogomery of Baskin, James Montogomery of Newellton and Robert Farrell, stationed with the army in Wyoming; and two daughters, Mrs. Edna Roberts of Mississippi and Mrs. Polly Calvert of San Diego, Calif. ---------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA January 14, 1943 Submitted by: Glenda Warner Boyd Final Rites Are Held For Vernon Hawsey. Funeral services for Talmadge Vernon Hawsey, 38, who died last Monday at Greenwell Springs after a long illness, were held last Tuesday at the Liddieville Baptist church, with the Rev. Tom Ratcliff officiating with the assistance of the Rev. Mr. Bradford. Burial followed in the Ogden cemetery under the direction of the First National Funeral home of Winnsboro. Mr. Hawsey is survived by his wife; three daughters, Bonnie V. Hawsey, Betty Zane Hawsey and Sherry B. Hawsey; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hawsey of Liddieville, and Laudrick Hawsey of Winnsboro; and four sisters, Mrs. Cora Pippin and Mrs. Bertha (sic) Bonita Turnage of Liddieville, Mrs. Mildred Dent of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Doris Henry (sic) Hendry of Winnsboro. Submitter's note: Talmadge Vernon Hawsey was born March 27, 1905 in Covington County, Mississippi to the union of Andrew Jackson Hawsey, Jr. and Pearl Adire Smith. He died January 4, 1943. He is also survived by brothers, Jeff Hawsey and Charles R. A. Martin Funeral Is Conducted Sunday Final rites for Thomas Allen Martin, 76, were held Sunday at the Liddieville Baptist church with the pastor, the Rev. Tom Ratcliff, officiating. Mr. Martin, who died Saturday morning at his residence following a long illness, was buried in the Ogden cemetery. Pallbearers were Bailey Martin, Chester Martin, Homer Martin, Clarence Adams, Elvin Adafs and Grady Womack. Arrangements were under the direction of the Frist National Funeral Homes, Inc. Mr. Martin, who had lived in Franklin parish for the past 25 years, is survived by his wife, a son, T. J. Leon McLemore officiating. Interment took place in the Holly Grove cemetery, with First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro in charge. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband, B. T. G. Sandiford Funeral services for Nathaniel Green Sandiford, 71, who died last week at the home of a daughter in Winnfield, were held Friday at the First Baptist church of Winnsboro with the Rev. C. S. Wroten, pastor of the Crowville Baptist church, officiating. The burial of Mr. Sandiford, who had been ill for some time, was in the Adams cemetery at Kelly. Pallbearers were Monroe Johnson, Roy Taylor, Bill Whitten, Charlie Smith, and Johnnie Walters. Arrangements were made by the First National Funeral Homes, Inc. Surviving Mr. Sandiford is his wife; two sons, N. E. and C. I. Sandiford, both of Winnsboro; three daughters, Mrs. J. E. Gassiott of Winnfield, Mrs. Gertha Grimshaw of Winnsboro and Mrs. H. S. Wooten Last Rites Are Held For Dr. M. W. Wooten Last rites were held Tuesday for Dr. M. W. Wooten, 63-year-old physician, who died at his residence in Mangham early Monday. Services were from the Mangham Methodist church, with the Rev. R. L. Crooke, officiating. Burial, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral home, was in the Gwinn cemetery at Mangham. Dr. Wooten, who was well-known throughout this part of the state, had been inactive in medical practice since 1929. He was born in Dossville, Miss., and was married to Miss Maude E. Windsor of Mangham in 1901. A 32nd degree Mason and a member of the San Antonio Masonic lodge, Dr. Wooten had operated a plantation. Pallbearers were K. McConnell, Massey McConnell, A. W. Jones, Fred Childress, Bill Heath, Cecil Pardue, R. E.Kenton and Ed Hixon. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Miss Edith Wooten and Mrs. Marjorie Blackwell, both of Mangham; and a grandchild, Marshall Quinn Blackwell. ------------------------------------------------------
