The funeral services will be at her home and interment will be in the Oakley cemetery, with the Rev. Leon McLemore of Wisner officiating. Pallbearers will be T. V. Lipsey, Willie Paul, L. W. Tarver, Ransom Roberts, Joe Boles and John Barton. Mrs. Boles is survived by her husband, R. M. Driggers of Crowville, who died at his residence late Saturday night after a short illness. The religious services were at the Crowville Baptist church and burial followed in the Crowville Masonic cemetery, with the Rev. C. S. Wroten officiating. T. Fletcher Rites Conducted Monday Last rites for John Thomas Fletcher, 86, were held this week at the Coax church cemetery, with the Rev. Mr. Keyes officiating. Mr. Fletcher died at his home at Baskin Sunday afternoon following a long illness. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Stanley Fletcher of Baskin, and D. B. Fletcher of Lyndhurst, West Virginia; and three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Jackson, Mrs. D. M. Massey and Mrs. Lee Burns, all of Baskin. C. Griffing Mrs. Griffing Rites Are Held at Baskin Funeral services for Mrs. A. C. Griffing were held in her Baskin residence Friday afternoon. Interment, with the Rev. Cook, Mangham Methodist minister, officiating followed in the old Ward cemetery at Como. Mrs. Griffing, 84-year-old resident of Franklin parish, had been visiting relatives in Monroe during the winter and had been ill only a short time. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dan Armanad Beard of Monroe, Mrs. E. C. Mallette of West Monroe and Mrs. J. T. Frellsen of Baskin; three sons, Dr. B. O. Griffing of Winnsboro, G. W. Griffing of McGehee, Ark., and W. Q. Griffing of Gilbert; a sister, Mrs. B. H. Randolph of Baskin, and eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. C. S. Wroten, Baptist minister of Crowville, officiating. The religious services were held in the church. The pallbearers were Harry Mock. Jr., Shelby Sinclair, Wilton Roberts, George Baskin, Johnny Baskin, Clyde Brady, A. C. Hewitt and W. L. Butler. Mr. Lord, who was 58, died Thursday night at his home in Baskin after a long illness. He is survived by his wife; five sons, Roy, Sam, and Vernon Lord, all of Baskin, Henry Lord, Camp Blanding, Fla., and Thomas Lord, Sheppard Field, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Ella Mae Harold and Mrs. Charlie Johnson, both of Baskin; and a sister, Mrs. Carl Garner, Galveston, Tex. Arrangements were handled by the First National Funeral home. --------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA March 18, 1943 Submitted September 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd John McMahan, 71, Early Parish Settler, Is Interred Monday Final rites for John McMahan, 71-year-old resident of Wisner, were held Monday afternoon at the Central church, with the Rev. Thomas Ratcliff, pastor of the Liddieville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Rev. Lee and Rev. Leon McLemore assisted. Mr. McMahan, who died Sunday, was one of the first settlers in this section, having come to Wisner from Gloster, Miss., and was instrumental in the development of the territory adjoining Wisner and Gilbert in the west. He served ward two for several years as a member of the police jury. For the past several years he has been an active member of the Central Baptist church. Surviving Mr. McMahan are two sons, W. L. and L. N. McMahan, both of Wisner; three daughters, Mrs. G. R. Cathley, Mrs. Joe Bannister and Mrs. E. F. Byrnes, all of Wisner; a brother, E. B. McMahan, Foules; and three sisters, Mrs. T. K. Magee, Waterproof, Mrs. J. C. Herrington, Wisner, and Mrs. Sam Roberts of California. T. F. Davis officiating. Burial followed in the Winnsboro cemetery, under the direction of First National Funeral home. Mr. Tearcy (sic Pearcy), who had been ill for some time, is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. James Knight of Jackson, Miss., Mrs. Bob Melton, Tallulah, Mrs. W. C. Mr. Stephens is survived by two brothers, Victor Stephens of Fayette, Miss., and Ed Stephens of Wisner, and three sisters, Mrs. George Ivey of Fayette and Mrs. Robert McKay and Mrs. J. C. Humble, Jr., of Wisner. The Mulhearn Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Swillie, who died at her home in Ft. Necessity, is survived by her husband, Wonie Swillie, and five children.
