W. Lewis, 42, Winnsboro, were conducted in the Ogden Babtist (sic Baptist) church Sunday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. R. P. Arender, Holly Grove minister, officiating. Interment followed in the Ogden cemetery. Mrs. Lewis, a native of Franklin parish, died in a Winnsboro hospital Friday morning following a short illness. She is survived by her husband; two sons, J. W. Lewis, Jr., and Marion Lewis, both of Winnsboro; two brothers, A. D. Skinner, Mangham, and T. F. Skinner, Kansas City, Mo.; one step-brother, George Skinner, Winnsboro; three sisters, Mrs. H. A. Milam and Mrs. A. L. Smith, both of Winnsboro, and Mrs. Della Woods, Jackson; one half-sister, Mrs. Woodrow Meredith, Winnsboro, and step-mother, Mrs. I. M. Skinner, Winnsboro. Pallbearers included B. A. Fisher, J. B. Dixon, Ray Jones, Jack Coughran, Meredith Adams and I. D. Parker. The First National Funeral Home was in charge of final arrangements. --------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA February 3, 1949 Submitted September 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Infant Shuff Rites Are Conducted Here Final rites were held for the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Shuff, Winnsboro, Thursday of last week, in the First National Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. A. C. Trapp, pastor of the Chase Baptist church, officiating. Interment followed in the Ogden cemetery. In addition to his mother and father, the child is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brown, Winnsboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shuff, Baskin. ------------------------------------------------------------------ The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA February 24, 1949 Submitted May 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Conduct Thornton Funeral Saturday Funeral services were held for T. M. Thornton, 78, life-long resident of Franklin parish, who passed away at his home last Friday night. The Rev. C. A. Martin officiated at the services held in the Hebert Baptist church Saturday and interment followed in the Wright cemetery, near Grayson. Mr. Thornton is survived by his widow, Mrs. T. M. Thornton; three daughters, Mrs. A. C. McWilliams, Shreveport, Mrs.B. F. Beach, El Dorado, Ark., Mrs. Jewell Collins, Winnsboro; five sons, J. M. Thornton, Winnsboro, Willie Thornton, Urania, Otis Thornton, Gilbert, Clinton Thornton, Winnsboro, and John Thornton, Gilbert. Bearing the pall were Willie Reems, Acie Reems, Edward Reems, Delbert Thornton, J. W. Thornton and Rogers Thornton. The pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased.
