Allen Expires In Home on March 1 J. B. Allen, 77 year-old Lone Cedar community resident, died in the family home on Saturday night of March 1. Final rites were held at 1:30 o'clock on Monday afternoon of March 3 in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ola Riley of Lone Cedar, with the Rev. Hubert Childress, evangelist, assisted by the Rev. Leslie Olson, evangelist. Interment of the well-known farmer followed in the Lone Cedar cemetery under the direction of the Hixon Funeral home of Monroe. Mr. Allen had been in ill health for a number of years; however death came unexpectedly following a three-day ilness. In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons, Huey and Charlie of Rayville; three daughters, Mrs. Arah Johnson of Gilbert, Mrs. Ola Riley, route 3, Winnsboro, Mrs. Lois Adcock of Rayville; one brother, Bill Allen of Monroe; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. ************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA March 20, 1952 Vol. 95 No. 4 Page 1 Copied and Submitted by: Glenda Boyd Victim of Korean War, Lt. Driskell, Rites held Tuesday Funeral services for Lt. Herman Driskell, son of Rev. and Mrs. Herman Driskell of Alto, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the First Baptist church of Monroe. He was killed in action in Korea on July 6, 1950. Officiating clergyman were Rev. R. L. Ross, pastor of the Memorial Park Baptist church; Rev. C. B. Hall, pastor of the Winnsboro First Baptist church, Rev. C. S. Cadwallader, Jr., and Robert Latham. Music was under the direction of Irby Cox. Interment followed in the Alto cemetery with the National Guard performing military rites. Honor guard included members of the American Legion posts of Monroe and Mangham. The Driskell family is well-known in Franklin Parish. Rev. Driskell is pastor of the Hill Ridge Baptist church. In addition to his parents, Lr. Driskell is survived by one sister, Miss Hermione Driskell of Monroe. Pallbearers were Bob Dillingham, Orie White, Bob Powell, L. G. Wilkinson, C. O. Lindley, C. C. Ringwald, Dr. T. A. H. K. Stringer officiating. Interment was made in the Kilbourne cemetery. Miss Finch died in a Monroe hospital last Friday. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Finch, Kilbourne; four brothers, W. E. of Kilbourne, Laurence of Baton Rouge, M. F., Jr., San Antonio, Texas, and Robert H. Finch, U. S. air force in Korea; four sisters, Mrs. Gordy, Mrs.Ruby Thompson of Saipan of the Marianna Islands, Mrs. Pauline Hynard of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Larry Randall of San Lorenzo, Calif. Bearing the pall were her four brothers and two nephews, Charlie J. T. G. Polk, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Raymond Collier, pastor of the West Winnsboro Baptist church, officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Russell and Miss Catherine James, both of Winnsboro; one son, Rufus James of Winnsboro; four sisters, Mrs. Ollie Nielsen, Mrs. Nettie Leonard and Mrs. Sarah Humphries, all of Winnsboro, and Mrs. Lizzie Mixon, Crowville; two brothers, Willie Johnson, Rayville, and Rube Johnson, Winnsboro. Final rites for the housewife and mother were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in the Wayside church with the Rev. Jack Jones of Jigger officiating. Interment followed in the Myrtle Memorial cemetery in Winnsboro. Mrs. Lambert is survived by her husband, Needum Lambert; five children, Georgia, Ruby Lee, Eloise, Shirley Jean and Needum Lambert, Jr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wactor, Newellton; brothers and sisters. Leola, Beulah, Dewdrop, Hazel, Laurine, Ray and Hollis Lee Wactor, George, Jr., and Russell Wactor. Final rites were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Lone Pine Baptist church with the Rev. Jack Jones of Jigger officiating. Interment under the direction of the Brown-Young Funeral home followed in the Harris cemetery. Mr. Parker is survived by five sons; George, Louis, Raymond and Luther Parker, all of Swampers, and Jack Parker, Delhi; three daughters, Miss Lillie Mae Parker, Mrs. Inez Buchans and Mrs. Ella Graham, all of Winnsboro; three brothers, Lonnie and Julian of Winnsboro and Arthur Parker, Kerman, Calif. Roan Dies in Shreveport Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o' clock in the Baskin Baptist church for Mrs. Mabel S. Roan, 34, Baskin, with the Rev. J. Luer Johnson, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Blough of Rayville, officiating. Interment was made in the Lone Cherry cemetery near Mangham under the direction of the First National Funeral home. Mrs. Roan expired in a Shreveport hospital Friday at 10:20 p.m. She is survived by her husband, Claude Roan of Baskin; one daughter, Miss Alice V. Thigpen, Rayville; parents; Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Smith, Rayville, and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Marie Dale, Newellton. Bearing the pall were J. A. Stephens, J. D. Odom, Jr., L. B. Mock, J. J. Butler, J. H.
