B. Campbell Last rites were observed Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bethel Baptist church near Baskin for Walter Bruce Campbell. The Rev. Robert Houston officiated at the services. Interment, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral home of Winnsboro, was in the Crowville Masonic cemetery with Masonic rites being held at the graveside. Mr. Campbell was a member of Crowville lodge, F. & A. M., No. 372. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Mary Ellen Campbell, Baskin; one son, W. B. Campbell, Corpus Christi, Tex.; and two grandchildren, W. B. Campbell, Jr., and Judy Campbell, both of Corpus Christi. Pallbearers were M. H. Riser, Cecil Clinging, J. C. Ragsdale, T. J. The Rev. T. J. Ratcliff officiated. Mr. Ferron leaves his wife, Mrs. John Ferron; a daughter, Mrs. Ethie Mae Parker; and one grandchild. Pallbearers were Homer Ellerman, Edward Ellerman, Freeman Wilson, John A. Cuney, Henry Wells, and Tommy Wells. W. M. Fussell Funeral Rites Held For The Rev. Fussell The Rev. W. M. Fussell, Winnsboro resident who died in a local clinic Tuesday at the age of 48, was laid to rest in the Shady Grove cemetery near Jigger following services Wednesday at the French Turn community Baptist church. The Rev. C. S. Wroten officiated, assisted by the Rev. Ben Joyner. The Rev. Fussell leaves: his wife, Mrs. Carmel B. Fussell, Winnsboro; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Swift of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Elsie Guillot of Natchez, Miss.; one brother, N. O. Fussell of Winnsboro; three grandsons, Ronnie and Randy Swift of Baton Rouge and Erwin Dale Guillot of Natchez; one granddaughter, Daphne Guillot Natchez. Pallbearers were Clarence Sanders, Jim Thomas, John Impson, Robert Woods, Leslie Woods and Otis Richardson. -------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA December 23, 2008 Submitted December 2008 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Simmie Earl Lee Lee Infant Interred The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lee, Jr. of Mangham, Simmie Earl Lee, age two months and one day, was interred in Union cemetery near Baskin Sunday afternon, following funeral services at the Church of Christ near Archibald. The baby died at an unknown hour early Saturday at the Lee home. The Rev. Graham Hale officiated at the funeral services. M. McCarty Funeral services were held for Holloway M. McCarty, 58, a resident of Franklin parish since 1910 when he moved here from Sikes, Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the French Turn Baptist church. Interment was in the Masonic cemetery at Crowville. Surviving Mr. McCarty, who passed away Monday are: his wife, Mrs. H. M. McCarty; daughters, Mrs. Essie Wroten, Mrs. Claude Gates, Mrs. J. L. Eldridge; three grandchildren, all of Winnsboro; three brothers, S. A. McCarty of Winnfield, B. S. McCarty of Newellton and C. C. McCarthy of Winnsboro; and one sister, Mrs. Gaines Buchans. Parker Services To Be Held Hanna-Richardson post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Diamond-Hawthorne Post, American Legion Winnsboro, will jointly conduct military funeral services for Raymond C. Parker, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Parker of Winnsboro, Friday at the First Baptist church of Winnsboro at 10 a.m. The Rev. C. B. Hall will officiate. Mr. Parker, 57, a former Winnsboro lawyer and state representative, made his home here for many years and was the organizer of the Diamond-Hawthorne post. His death came in Phoenix, Ariz., early this week at the Veterans' hospital there from an acute kidney attack. Mr. Parker, engaged in real estate business at the time of his death, had been living in Arizona for about three years. Previous to this he had made his home in California for 15 years. He was also connected with the legislature of Arizona, bearing the title of legislative assistant. His body, escorted by his sister, Mrs. Paul Jones of Clarks is being brought by train from Phoenix for burial here until time for services. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Paul Jones of Clarks, a brother, Hubert Parker, and three nieces. Talbott Talbott Services Held Here On Wednesday Services were held at the First National Funeral home chapel Wednesday morning, December 15, for Mrs. Mary I. Talbott, 57, and a resident of Winnsboro. Mrs. Talbott passed away December 12 in a New Orleans hospital at 10:05 p.m. Surviving Mrs. Talbott are: her husband, C. A. Talbott, Winnsboro; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Brewster, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Mamie Baumer, Kansas City, Kan.; one brother, Sam Ingels, Kansas City, Mo. Whitney Dies In Accident Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Coax community Baptist church for Lige Laveer Whitney, 41, who was killed instantly in an automobile accident about 12:20 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Braswell officiated, assisted by the Rev. Wilson Rawls. Interment was in the Coax cemetery near Baskin. A resident of Coax community, Mr. Whitney was traveling south of Louisiana highway 15 when the accident occured. According to information from the office of Sheriff Hiram B. Waller, as Mr. Whitney rounded a curve about four miles north of Winnsboro, he lost control of the vehicle, a 1950 four-door Ford sedan. The automobile overturned several times on the highway and came to rest in a bar pit adjoining the highway. As the car rolled over and over, Mr. Whitney was thrown from it, dying instantly as a result of a crushed chest and skull, according to Dr. H. E. Jones, Franklin parish coroner. The automobile was totally demolished. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hodge, who were approximately a quarter of a mile behind the Whitney automobile when the accident occured, were the first on the accident scene. State Trooper W. W. Miller was summoned to investigate the tragedy. Those surviving Mr. Whitney are: four sisters, Mrs. Alice Goodman, Mrs. J. H. Cook and Mrs. M. W. Cook, all of Winnsboro, and Mrs. O. E. Gwin, Haughton; three brothers, Archie and Edward Whitney of Winnsboro and Jessie Whitney of Willet, Calif. Pallbearers were C. H. Nelson, W. E. Nugent, Elton Goodman, Richard Goodman, Dawsey Jones and A. W. Williamson.
