All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The following obituaries are listed below: Daniel Stephen McCarty ********************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA December 8, 1955 Submitted by: Glenda Warner Boyd Daniel Stephen McCarty Newellton, December 7 - (Special) - Daniel Stephen McCarty, 76, prominent plantation owner and retired merchant of Tensas parish, died of a heart attack while on a hunting trip in the woods near his home Tuesday. The body was found at midnight Tuesday by state trooper Jimmy Hart, game warden Bill Poe and Buster Byrd, after a lengthy search. Dr. Joseph Whitaker, Tensas parish coroner, placed the time of death at about 9 a.m. Tuesday. A native of Sikes, he had resided in Tensas parish since the year 1924. He was a member of Crowville Masonic Lodge 307, and of Chapter 72 of the Royal Arch Masons of Delhi. Last year he received the Masonic pin for 50 years of membership. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World at Crowville. Funeral services are incomplete, pending the arrival of a daughter from Venezuela. Services will be held at the Crowville Baptist church with the Rev. S.C. Wroten officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. E.D. Smith, pastor of the Willow Bayou Baptist church in Madison Parish, and the Rev. J. D. Greer, pastor of the Bethany Baptist church at Newellton. Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery at Crowville with Masonic rites at the graveside. Young's Funeral Home of Tallulah will be in charge. He is survived by his wife; a son, Delmas, Newellton; five daughters, Mrs. J. W. Sanders, Lafayette, Mrs. D. W. McCarty of San Tone, Venezuela, Mrs. Jack Shane, Terre Haute, Ind., and Mrs. Lamar Little, Winnsboro; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, C. C. McCarty, Winnsboro, and C. A.
