Stevens September 2009 Harold L. Blair Harold L. Blair, 64, Manchester, N.H. passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. M. Hodgkins, here early this morning. He had been ill for many months. Stevens September 2009 Mrs. Mable Moore Dorsett Mrs. Mabel Moore Dorsett, 67, passed away after several weeks of lingering illness at her home in Lake Charles. Born in Franklin parish and a member of one of the pioneer families of this area, Mrs. Dorsett was the daughter of the late John R. and Mary Elizabeth Moore. She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Scott of Vinton, Mesdames Lula and Betty Shipp, both of Winnsboro, and Mrs. A. C. Caruthers of Little Rock, Ark., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at Hixon Funeral home in Lake Charles at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, with the Rev. Carl Lueg, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in Bigwood cemetery near Edgerly. --------------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA March 1, 1956 Submitted July 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd James Wiley Hatten A resident of Franklin parish for 35 years, but recently of Columbia, James Wiley Hatten, 82, died Sunday, February 26, at 10 p.m. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Columbia Heights Baptist church, with interment following in Thompson cemetary (sic cemetery) at Sikes. Mr. Hatten leaves his widow, Mrs. J. W. Hatten; five daughters, Mrs. Bertie Rotstein of Vicksburg, Miss, Mrs. Gladys Cole of Jackson, Miss., Mrs. Myrtle Williams of New Orleans, Mrs. Minnie Posey of Winnsboro; five sons and a stepson, Cas Hatten of Jackson, Miss., Joe and Edgar Hatten of Winnsboro, Ralph Hatten of Tullos, Sgt. L. J. Hatten of Abeline, Tex. and a stepson, Van Martin of Winnfield; 46 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Riser Funeral home, Columbia, was in charge of funeral arrangements. ----------------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA March 1, 1956 Submitted May 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Dora Helen Mapp A week after her husband of more than half a century passed away, Mrs. Dora Helen Mapp, 83, followed him in death. The aged couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on December 23. Funeral services for Mrs. Mapp, who died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday after a long illness, were held today at 11 a.m. at the Lone Cherry Baptist church near Mangham. Officiating were the Rev. T. J. Ratcliff, pastor of Oak Grove Baptist church, and the Rev. Joiner, Lone Cherry pastor. Interment followed in the Lone Cherry cemetery under the direction of Young Funeral home. Mrs. Mapp leaves to mourn her passing four sons, J. L. Mapp of Winnsboro, A. H. Mapp of Brooksville, Miss., Woodrow Mapp of Kilgore and William Mapp, Jr., Valth, Texas.; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Rollins (sic Rolen) of Winnsboro, Mrs. Lois Ryan of Jonesville and Mrs. Ella Hall of Jeanerette; 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John Lee of Berniece (sic Bernice); and a brother, Grover Laird, Bogaloosa. Stevens September 2009 Edward Eugene Scott Final rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist church of Winnsboro for E. E. Scott, 83, who died Saturday at his home here. The Rev. C. B. Hall, pastor, officiated, assisted by the Rev. H. K. Stringer, pastor of the Temple Baptist church. Mr. Scott leaves his wife, Mrs. Sally Scott, Winnsboro; two sons, T. S. Scott of Baton Rouge and L. B. Scott of Minden; two daughters, Mrs. P. B. Dobyns, Jackson, Miss., and Mrs. Rebecca Glasgow, Winnsboro; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Nelson and Mrs. Mertis Kilmon, both of Shreveport; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Fraim Davis, Bob Graves, C. H. Foster, E. C. Yearwood, Pat Cuny, Charles Voth, Bruce Bufkin and Morgan Smith.
