Mathis Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Lamar Baptist church for Arthur E. Mathis, 61, resident of Lamar community who died in Rogers clinic Saturday at 10:55 a.m. Officiating was the Rev. Ralph Frasier, assisted by the Rev. W. C. Welch. Interment followed in the Crowville Masonic cemetery. Mr. Mathis leaves his wife, Mrs. Neva B. Mathis of Lamar; two sons, Johnny Lisle and Arthur Lynn Mathis, both of Lamar; a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Emfinger of Winnsboro; three brothers, W. B. Mathis of Austin, Tex., A. H. Mathis of Monroe and M. L. Mathis of Fort Worth, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. J. V. Dunham and Mrs. Irene Gill, both of Winnsboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bill Spillers, Cedrick Fletcher, Hardy Walker, Herman Ward, Aubrey Spillers and Freeman Townsend. ------------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA June 7, 1956 Submitted October 2008 by: Glenda Warner Boyd John Dill McKinnon Final rites were conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Temple Baptist church here for John Dill McKinnon, 49, who died in a local clinic at 2:10 Monday afternoon after suffering a heart attack at 12:30 while at work. Mr. McKinnon was tire department manager of the Quality Oil and Tire Company of Winnsboro and had been associated with the company for 16 years. The Rev. H. K. Stringer officiated at funeral services, which were followed by interment in the Winnsboro new cemetery. Mr. McKinnon leaves his wife, Mrs. Alice McKinnon; a son, John Gayland McKinnon; two daughters, Sylvia McKinnon and Alice Faye McKinnon; and his mother, Mrs. Nannie McKinnon of Gilbert. Pallbearers were T. J. Blount, J. L. Jones, Robert Powers, Buster Ross, Tommie Rollins, Charlie Cordill, Ed Farris and Ralph Reeves. ------------------------------------------------ The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA June 7, 1956 Submitted October 2008 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Donnie Posey Funeral services were held Friday, at 2 p.m. at the Wayside Pentecostal church for Mrs. Donnie Posey, 87, a resident of Winnsboro. Mrs. Posey died in a Shreveport hospital Thursday morning after a long illness. The Rev. W. T. Hemphill officiated at funeral services, which were followed by interment in the Pine Grove cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Posey are four daughters, Rosetta Warbington, Emma Barfield, Malisie Bacle, all of Winnsboro, and Zelma McCoy of Houston, Tex., a son, Martin Posey, also of Winnsboro; and 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Olla Reeves, Alton Wollerson, O. W. Walker, J. W. Townsend, Julian Parker and T. B. Wyman of Winnsboro died in a local clinic at the age of 73 years Saturday morning. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Manifest, with the Rev. Luther Bradford officiating. Interment was in Heard cemetery at Manifest. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Stella Wyman of Winnsboro; a son, Asa Wyman of Morgan City; and a daughter, Miss Bernice Wyman of San Francisco, Calif. Serving as pallbearers were Gail Stephens, Harold Lee, Wilton Hoggart, Purvis Braswell and Cliff Smith. --------------------------------------------------
