W. Beall W. W. Beall, a long time resident of Crowville, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, Ocotber 17. Mr. Beall came from Wesson, Miss. to Franklin parish in 1918, and lived near Crowville until his death. He was a member of the Crowville W.O.W. and also of the Crowville First Baptist church. He married the former Miss Leona Buckley, also of Wesson, Miss. To this union was born five sons and one daughter. They are; Leroy, Maloy, Virgil and Herman of Crowville, J. W. of Wisner and Lena Mae of Alexandria. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers, Luther and Ess Beall of Hazelhurst, Miss.; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Beasley, also of Hazelhurst, Miss. Funeral services were held at the Crowville First Baptist church Thursday, October 18, at 3 o'clock p.m. with the Rev. C. T. Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. E. L. McInnis and the Rev. S. B. Dampier. Pallbearers were Jay Holmes, Lavelle Hopson, Phil Killian, Leon LaBorde, Andrew Riser and Otis Richardson, Jr. --------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA October 25, 1956 Submitted January 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Former Resident Dies When Crushed by Log In Saw Mill Tragedy A resident of Winnsboro for many years and long-time saw-mill worker, Eugene Nelson Brown, 66, lately of Holly Ridge, was crushed to death by a falling log at the George Franklin & Son mill at Holly Ridge Tuesday. According to witnesses, the mill skid, a moving device, slipped and sent a log crashing on top of the victim, killing him instantly. The tragedy occurred around 2 p.m. as Mr. Brown worked on the skid. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mer Rouge cemetery. Survivors are a half-brother, E. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maddie Clark of Wisner; one son, Charley J. Clark of Wisner; a daughter, Mrs. M. E. Kirkland of Wisner; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Stephens of Georgetown and Mrs. F. H. Bates of Wisner; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Central Baptist church, with the Rev. Ira Patterson officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Fred Baxter and the Rev. Enon Boyette. Interment followed in Central cemetery. Pallbearers were Reed B. Price, Charlie I. Bass, Robert Ferrington, Grady Stephens, Pat McKiever and V. J. The Rev. M. J. Martin officiated. Interment was in White Swan Cemetery. Survu\ivors include his wife, Mrs. Idelle McCarty of West Monroe; a daughter, Patricia Ann McCarty; a son, Willie Warren McCarty; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. McCarty of Winnsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Grace Shoemaker of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Henriette Johnson of Monroe and Miss Janice Lynn McCarty of Winnsboro; three brothers. G. M. The Rev. C. B. Hall officiated, assisted by the Rev. H. K. Stringer. Interment was in the Oak Grove cemetery near Fort Necessity. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Thomas, Winnsboro; nine daughters, Mrs. M. J. DeMary, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Lottie Ellerbe, Wisner, Mrs. Florence Humphries, Mrs. Alice Humphries, Mrs. Effie Humphries, all of Fort Necessity, Mrs. Mabel Stephens, Monroe, Mrs. Lucille Thomas, Monroe and Mrs. Lillie Hendrix, Newellton; one son, John Thomas, Winnsboro; and 39 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Bob Wright, Joe Hayes, Quincy Hayes, John E. Thomas, Nathan Humphries and W. B. Swaggart officiating. Interment followed in Holly Grove Cemetery near Wisner. Surviors of Mr. Tines are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude B. Tines, New Orleans; five daughters, Mrs. Odeal Barns aand Mrs. Irma L. Hamblen, both of Houston, Tes., Mrs. Margie Daniels, Miss Stella Tines, and Miss Glenda Tines, all of New Orleans; three sons. A.J., Jerry and Eugene Tines aall of New Orleans; two brothers Jack and William Ferrington, both of Wisner; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Ensminger of Wisner and Mrs. Lessie Sahad of Winnsboro; and five grandchildren.
