Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. The infant, who died in a local clinic Friday at 12:30 noon, is survived by his parents, his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Queen Price, Winnsboro, and a number of aunts and uncles. ----------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA November 14, 1957 Submitted April 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd James Henry Hammett A resident of Liddieville community for 50 years, James Henry Hammett died at the age of 86 years at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home there. Mr. Hammett, born November 28, 1870 in Alabama, was a farmer by occupation and a member of the Boeuf River Baptist church. Funeral services were conducted at the Boeuf River church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Joe Silvio, assisted by the Rev. T.J. Ratcliff, officiating. Interment was in Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral home. Mr. Hammett is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ilah Johnson of Winnsboro, Mrs. Nila Mae Quaid, Hodge, and Mrs. Fannye Belle Heath, Baton Rouge; a son, Marvin Woody Hammett, Winnsboro; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Newt Hammett, Dodson, Eddie Hammett, Oak Grove, and Lee Hammett, Winnsboro. Serving as pallbearers were Elvin Adams, Clarence Adams, Ira Parks, Milton Albritton, Louis Davis and Price Turnage. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Parks, Bob Adams, J.A. Turnage, Fulton Wiggins, Wylie Underwood and Jimmy Johnston. ****************************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA November 14, 1957 Submitted April 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd William Wesley Pippins, Sr. William Wesley Pippins, Sr., a life-long resident of Winnsboro, passed away Tuesday, November 12, at Conway Memorial hospital. He was one day short of 90 years old. A retired farmer, Mr. Pippins was born November 13, 1868 Mangham. He leaves 54 descendants. Services for the aged Winnsboro resident, who died after an illness of two weeks, were conducted at 3 p.m. in the Free Methodist church in Liddieville Wednesday. The Rev. W. H. Bengtson officiating. Interment followed in Ogden cemetery under the direction of First National Funeral home. Mr. Pippins is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie May Pippins, Winnsboro; seven sons, Williard, William Wesley, Jr., Jimmie Earl and George Houston Pippins, all of Baskin, Winnferd Pippins, Brookhaven, Miss., Ruffin Pippins, Santa Anna, Calif., and Wilbern Pippins, Freer, Tex.; seven daughters, Ella Vaughn, Pine Bluff, Ark., Nobie Prather, Newellton, Hazel Hodge and Charlie Jean Wiggins, both of Monroe, Odessa Lamb, Livingston, Tex., and Joe Ann Evans and Lillian Evans, both of Baskin; 29 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Will McMurray, Winnsboro. Pallbearers were Buddy Woods, Eudy Reagan, Bill Green, Albert Wiggington, Charles McPhail and W.H. McPhail. Note: Multiple records show birth as November 13, 1875. ***********************************
