December 2. Death came in Community hospital at Jacinto City, Tex. Young Butler suffered multiple fractures of the skull and severe chest injuries in a car-truck collision near Houston. He was thrown from his automobile as it turned over 3 1/2 times. His wife and aunt, alarmed because he had not arrived home at his customary time and out searching for him, arrived on the scene of the accident soon after it occurred. The young man lived for 69 hours after the collision. Funeral services were held for him at 2 p.m. Sunday at Boeuf River Baptist church at Liddieville, with the Rev. T.J. Ratcliff officiating. The Rev. Joseph Silvio officiated. Interment was in Ogden cemetery. Survivors of the accident victim, a resident of Houston, Tex. for six years, include his wife, Mrs. Gwendolyn E. Butler, Houston; his mother, Mrs. Cleo Wright, Galena Park, Tex.; his step-father, Rufus E. Wright, Galena Park, Tex.; maternal grandfather, Wiley E. Underwood, Sr., Winnsboro; and great-grandfather, R.L. Adams, Sr. of Liddieville. ******************************************************************* The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA December 12, 1957 Submitted April 2006 by Glenda Warner Boyd Samuel Edgeton Rhymes Samuel Edgeton Rhymes of Jigger died at the age of 72 years at 1:05 p.m. December 6, in a Monroe hospital. His last illness was lengthy. A farmer, Mr. Rhymes was born on August 17, 1885 in Jackson parish. He was a member of the Jigger Pentecostal church. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Jack Jones officiating, for Mr. Rhymes. They took place in the Jigger Pentecostal church, followed by burial in Ogden cemetery. Mr. Rhymes leaves to mourn him his wife, Mrs. Flora Rhymes of Winnsboro; a son, Eddie Rhymes, Winnsboro; a daughter, Mrs. Addie Mae Hutson, Extension; a sister, Mrs. Delia Gaskin, Winnsboro; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Arthur Conerly, Willis Gaskin, T. Conerly, Aaron Gaskin, Alton Conerly and Jay Gaskin.
