Townsend ********************************** ********************************* The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA January 30, 1958 Submitted November 2007 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Luther Burt A resident of Fort Necessity for 28 years, Luther Burt succumbed to a brief illness Sunday at the home of a relative in Winnsboro. He was 64 years of age, having been born January 6, 1894 at Brookhaven, Miss. Services for the World War I veteran were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Boeuf Prairie Methodist church, with the Rev. J. W. Boyd of Gilbert officiating. Interment followed in Boeuf Prairie cemetery. Survivors of Mr. Burt are his wife, Mrs. Effie N. Burt, Fort Necessity; two brothers, Felix Burt, Fort Bragg, Calif., and Ira Burt, Bogue Chitto, Miss.; a sister, Mrs. T. J. Sasser, Bogue Chitto, Miss.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Herman Wiggers, James Nugent, Cecil Nugent, Robert Bonner, James Scriber and Kenneth Mason. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA January 30, 1958 Submitted January 2007 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Nerious O'Neal Fussell Nerious O'Neil (Neil) Fussell of Jigger died at the age of 49 years at 5:30 p.m. February 3 at his home. He had been ill for a lengthy period of time. Born February 14 at Kelly, Mr. Fussell was a farmer. Funeral services were conducted at Shady Grove Baptist church near Jigger at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. H. A. Braswell officiating, assisted by the Rev. Crain. Interment was in Shady Grove cemetery. Mr. Fussell leaves his wife, Mrs. Georgia H. Fussell, Jigger; three sons, William P. Fussell, Houma, N. O. Fussell, Jr. Crowley, and Carey Fussell, Jigger; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Fussell, Jigger; and one grandson, William P. Fussell, Jr., Houma. Pallbearers were J. C. Ferrington, Robert Woods, John Impson, Clarence Sanders, Staten Wiggins and J. L. Townsend, 39, died at the route one, Delhi home of a brother Sunday after a long illness. Final rites were conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Lamar Baptist church. The Rev. C. O Stegall officiated. Interment followed in the Crowville Masonic cemetery. Mr. Townsend leaves his wife, Mrs. Bertie Townsend, Channelview, Tex.; two sons, David and Jerry; three daughters, Lorrelle, Pauline and Marilyn Jane; a stepson, C. R. Bryan, U. S. Navy; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Buel Ashley of Delhi; his mother, Mrs. Mattie Townsend, route one, Delhi; a sister, Mrs. Paul Spearman of Winnsboro; five brothers, Claude of Crane, Tex., Emmett of Tacome, Washington, Ernest of Lawton, Okla., Pervis of Baytown and Freeman of Delhi.
