Adams ********************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA July 3, 1958 Submitted by: Glenda Warner Boyd L. J. Adams L. J. Adams, for 50 years a resident of Franklin Parish, died at the age of 76 years at 2:20 p.m. Thursday at Rogers Clinic. He had been ill for some time. The farmer and stockman, born November 15, 1881, in Winn parish, was a member of the Missionary Baptist church and New Hope lodge No. 328, F&AM. Final rites were conducted in the First National funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. T. J. Ratcliff officiating, assisted by the Revs. C. W. Jones and C. B. Hall. Interment was in the old section of Ogden cemetery. Masonic services were conducted at the graveside. Survivors include his wife,. Mrs. Ida Adams of Winnsboro; a brother, R. L. Adams; a foster daughter, Mrs. Bessie Hawsey; and two foster sons, Herman Faulk and Alcie Faulk, all of Winnsboro; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were George Ray Faulk, L. E. May, C. D. Magee, Jr., Mark Moore, Demarcus Butler and Sammy Davis. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. Submitter's note: Levi Josephus Adams was born November 16, 1881 and died June 26, 1958. He married Ida Virginia Liles on April 15, 1906. Although the couple had no children of their own, they took orphans, Bessie and Lessie Faulk in the fall of 1913 to rear as their own. ( The children was second cousins to Levi Josephus Adams). In July, 1923, when Podesta L. Liles was maternally orphaned, they took him into their home. (Podesta L. Liles was the son of Ida's brother). **********************************
