Hugh White Batey, Sr.
 
Hugh White Batey, Sr., 53-year-old Wisner farmer, died Wednesday at his 
home after a lengthy illness.
 
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary S. Batey, Wisner; a son, Hugh Batey, Jr. Wisner; 
three daughters, Mrs. Sadie Mae Leggett, Miss Levon Batey and Mrs. Joyce Bass, 
all of Wisner; his mother, Mrs. Reta Batey, Wisner; two brothers, M. C. and Julian Batey, 
both of Wisner; three sisters, Mrs. Lela Martin and Mrs. Ruby Davis, both of Baton Rouge, 
and Mrs. Cora Martin, Roanoke, Va.; three grandsons and one granddaughter.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Batey will be held at Holly Grove Baptist church this afternoon 
at 3 p.m. The Rev. Everett Bringol will officiate, assisted by the Revs. Carlton Vance and Joseph Silvio. 
 
Burial will be in Holly Grove cemetery.
 
Mr. Batey was born February 9, 1905 at Wisner.
 
Pallbearers will be Bill Sheffield, Stanley Carroll, Charles Bingham, Red Oliver, 
Bruce Bailey, Hobbie Beach.
