A. Fraser R. A. Fraser, former lumber company manager and brother-in-law of C. J. Grayson of Fort Necessity, died Tuesday night after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Thursday morning in Kilgore, Tex., where Mr. Fraser has resided for the past 29 years. Following the services, the body was brought back to Fort Necessity for burial in the Grayson family cemetery. Beside his brother-in-law, Mr. Fraser is survived by his wife, a foster-son and foster-daughter, his mother, a brother and a sister. ---------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA July 7, 1960 Submitted January 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd James Morris Jackson James Morris Jackson, World War I veteran and retired farmer of route one, Baskin, died Wednesday in Veterans hospital in Alexandria after a lengthy illness. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Mable Jackson; three sons, J. W. Jackson of Winnsboro, James Marvin and Marion Jackson, both of Baskin; a daughter, Juanita Jackson of Baskin; two brothers, Sam Jackson of El Paso, Tex., and Luke Jackson of Philadelphia, Miss; and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Cheek of El Paso, Tex., and Mrs. Salley O'Neal of Greenwood, Miss. Funeral services were conducted today at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist church with the Rev. R. E. Houston officiating. Jones of Shreveport, former residents of Franklin parish, died Friday at a Shreveport hospital. Just 1 1/2 years old, Ricky was ill with pneumonia briefly before his death. He is survived by his parents, a sister, Judy and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clark and Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Jones. Funeral services for Ricky were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hale Baptist church. The Rev. Robert Houston officiated. ---------------------------------------------------- Submitted by DeWanna Lindo The Franklin Sun July 21, 1960 Douglas LaBorde Funeral services for Douglas LaBorde, farmer-merchant of Swampers community, were held at 3 p.m. today at Fish Bayou Baptist church. The Rev. Johnny Allen officiated. A native of Franklin parish, Mr. LaBorde died Wednesday in a local clinic. He was 51 years old. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rachel Scott LaBorde; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Bryan, Mrs. Elaine Clark and Miss Ann LaBorde, all of Swampers, his mother Mrs. Della LaBorde, Swampers; four brothers, J. E. , Jack and Cleon LaBorde, all of Swampers, and Clyde LaBorde of Fort Smith, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Zelma Flowers, Holly Ridge, Mrs. Molly Welch and Mrs. Edna Strickland, both of Swampers. Pallbearers were Enoch Welch, Willie Ray Strickland, David LaBorde, John J. LaBorde, Jimmy Ray Hoover and E. C. Goodrum. Interment was in Harris cemetery. ******************* Submitted by DeWanna Lindo The Franklin Sun July 14, 1960 A. F. Osborn Mr. A. F. Osborn a resident of Monroe died July 11 at the age of 76. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. D. O. Birken, Monroe and a daughter, Mrs. Jack Webb of Monroe and several nephews, Mr. Osborn for many years was employed by the city of Monroe and the Missouri Pacific railroad. Mr. Osborn is a former resident of Winnsboro and will be recalled as a member of one of the first organized baseball teams of Winnsboro. Two remaining members of the team are Leo Richardson and George Wiggers. ******************* The Franklin Sun July 28, 1960 SFC Shelton W. Perry, Sr. Funeral services for Sergeant first class Shelton W. Perry, Sr., who died Thursday from a rifle bullet head wound at Fort Lewis, Wash., were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist church of Gilbert. The Rev. W. C. Hall officiated. Sfc. Perry, a native of Gilbert, was a vetreran of 16 years service with the United States Army. He leaves to mourn him his wife, Mrs. Lorraine Perry; four sons, Albert, Burt, J. W. and Shelton Jr.; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Perry of Gilbert; two brothers, Marvin Perry, Baker, and Julius Perry; four sisters, Bessie Geoghegan, Baker, Mrs. Huey Lofton and Mrs. Claude Lowe, both of Gilbert, and Mrs. Leight Bullen, Fayette, Miss. Pallbearers were Bill and Rufus Ezell, J. Monroe, Clifford Barton, Bubble Tatken and E. L. Tackle. Tidwell Funeral services were held for Mrs. Maggie Elizabeth Tidwell, 86, at 9 a.m. July 4, at Kendrick's Ferry Pentecostal church. The Rev. Tillman Hemphill of West Monroe officiated. Interment was in Pine Hill cemetery, Sicily Island. "Little Mammy," as she was affectionately known by her many friends and relatives, was born in Catahoula parish on August 25, 1873. She had lived at Wisner for 17 years and was a member of Kendrick's Pentecostal church. She is survived by six children, Emmitt Kimble, Lagrove Tidwell, Mrs. Sid Glascock, Mrs. Gussie Britt, Mrs. Howard Welch, all of Gilbert, and Mrs. Bill Caffey, Union, Miss., 37 grandchildren, 81 great grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is survived by four sons, J. W. and Benn of Rayville, Willie, Baskin and Archie, Cumpton, Calif., 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and a number of relatives in Franklin Parish. *******************
