Simmons --------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA March 16, 1961 Submitted January 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Lula Bacle Final rites were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Crowville Baptist church for Mrs. Lula Bacle, 73, Winnsboro. Officiating ministers were the Revs. C. T. Smith and Hope Dupree. Interment was in Harris cemetery. Born October 24, 1887 at Livingston, Ala., Mrs. Bacle died Monday. She leaves her husband, Walter Bacle, Winnsboro; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Carter and Mrs. Bettye Ferris, both of Winnsboro, and Miss Maybelle Bryant, Biloxi, Miss.; four sons, Thomas Bacle, Delhi, N. S. Bacle, Winnsboro, Homer Bacle and Walter Bacle, Jr., Brookhaven, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Leonard and Mrs. Della Leonard, both of Winnsboro; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Floyd Townsend, A. J. Riser, W. I. Baker Miss Lurline Cordill Baker, a lifelong resident of Crowville, died at her home at 5:06 a.m. Sunday after an illness of six months. She was 81 years old. Born November 27, 1889 near Crowville, Miss Baker was a member of Crowville Methodist church. Funeral services took place at Mulhearn Funeral home chapel in Winnsboro at 2 p.m. Monday. The Revs. S. B. Dampier and Kenney Norton officiated. Burial followed in new Winnsboro cemetery. Survivors are: a brother, John W. Baker; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ella B. Baker; nieces and nephews, William R. and Glenn Baker, both of Winnsboro, John B. Baker, East Alton, Ill., Wallace S. Baker, Washington, Ill., Pat W. Baker, Detroit, Mich., Dr. Edward Denis Baker, Bastrop, Mrs. Ella Margaret Humble, The Hague, Netherland; and several great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Woodie Franklin, Howard Watson, E. A. Vickers, Cecil Biggs, Cordill Hodge, Ben Lanier and S. L. Chevallier David Mitchell Chevallier, 2 1/2-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Chevallier, Jr., Winnsboro, died February 25 at his home at 406 Highland street, Winnsboro. Funeral services were held at Boeuf River Baptist church at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Jimmy Hipp officiating. Interment was in Ogden cemetery. David, who was born December 15, is survived by his parents; two sisters, Deborah and Dana Chevallier, Winnsboro; grandmothers, Mrs. Orlene Chevallier, Winnsboro, and Mrs. Kitty Matlock, Lyndale, Tex.; and grandfather, Ernest Chevallier, Sr. Winnsboro. Pallbearers were W. B. Perkins, John W. Griffing, T. J. Gough and J. O. Funeral services for the infant were held at Oak Grove Baptist church at 3 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Hoover officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove cemetery. The infant is survived by his parents; a brother, Rickey; and a sister, Cheryl Gould; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Gould, Baskin, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Duncan, Winnsboro; and several aunts and uncles. The Rev. James Beaven officiated. Burial followed in Holly Grove cemetery. A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Holder died March 13, at her home. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clarice Brinkley, Springfield, Tenn.; Mrs. Ruth Mobley and Miss Betty Holder, both of Wisner; a sister; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Edgar Ray Barlow, Lloyd Roberts, T. G. Mr. Hughes, a retired farmer, had lived at Mangham for about 30 years. He was born May 4, 1887 at Sardis, Miss., and was a member of Jehovah's Witness church. After a lengthy illness, he died Wednesday in a rest home in Bastrop. H. C. Truill is to officiate at funeral services, to be followed by interment in Lynn cemetery at Archibald. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Rosa Vester Hughes, Mangham; six sons, William C. Hughes and Clyde A. Hughes, both of Longview, Tex., James Wesley Hughes, Rayville, Birnis Eugene Hughes, Archibald, and Troy D. and Huey H. Hughes, both of Bastrop; two daughters, Mrs. Calvin Drake, Longview, Tex., and Mrs. William Stevens, Little Rock. Ark.; two brothers, Arthur and Clyde Hughes, both of Jackson, Miss.; 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Elton, A. R. and Curtis Reeves, D. B. Fletcher, Roy Wallace and H. Simmons, 65, of Winnsboro died early today at his home. Mrs. Simmons, a planter and native of Caldwell parish, was a member of Temple Baptist church and a veteran of World War I. Funeral arrangements, to be directed by Mulhearn Funeral home, are incomplete. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Choat Simmons, Winnsboro; four sons, W. L. (Buster) Simmons and Reuben Simmons, both of Monroe, Bobby Lee Simmons, Winnsboro, and Jack C. Simmons, Alexandria; a brother, R. J.
