July 26 1962 Submitted by: Karen McNease June 2002 Archie Scott Higgins Final rites for Archie Scott Higgins, 84, were held Monday at First Methodist Church of Sicily Island. The Revs. J. W. Boyd and J. J. Davis officiated at the services which were followed with burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. Mr. Higgins, lifetime resident of Sicily Island and member of First Methodist Church died in his home Sunday. He is survived by; his wife, Mrs. A. S. Higgins of Sicily Island; four daughters, Mary Angelle of New Iberia, Juanita Mason of Baton Rouge, Allene Price of Formosa, China and Thelma Bond of Monroe; four sons, Gordon Higgins and Watson Higgins of Sicily Island, H. S. Higgins of Biloxi, Miss. and J. A. Higgins of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Sadie Spann of Wisner and Lena Watson of Monroe; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. ************************************************ The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, La. July 26 1962 Submitted by: Karen McNease June 2002 Renfrow Infant Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Renfrow was stillborn Friday at a local clinic. graveside funeral services were held Saturday at Ogden cemetery, with the Rev. J. A. Hawthorne officiating. The child is survived by: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Renfrow of Winnsboro; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Renfrow of Winnsboro; maternal grandfather, Curtis Johnson of Houston, Texas.; and a number of aunts and uncles. ******************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, La. July 26 1962 Submitted by: Karen McNease June 2002 Mrs. Allie Thornhill Mrs. A. T. (Allie) Thornhill, 71 of Liddieville, died Friday at Winnsboro Sanitarium. Funeral services were held at Boeuf River Baptist church Saturday, with the Revs. Meredith Hair and Odis Dumas officiating. Oakley cemetery of Gilbert was the place of interment. Mrs. Thornhill is survived by her husband, A. T. Thornhill of Winnsboro; four daughters, Mrs. Mattie McMurray of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. May Bell Brady, Mrs.Emma Johnston and Mrs. Erma Lee Johnston of Winnsboro; two sons, Jim Parker Thornhill of Kerman, Calif. and K. T. Thornhill of Monroe; One brother, Elmer Emfinger of Winnsboro; four sisters, Mrs. Dizzie Arnold and Mrs. Vannie Seymour of Winnsboro, Mrs. Cecila Stephens of Wisner and Mrs. Lucy Ezell of Baskin; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bud Johnston, James Beaty, Charles Ray Jennings, Quincy Adams, Credo Cobb and Bobby Woods. *********************
