Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Chase cemetery with the Rev. L. W. Knight officiating. Mrs. Andrews is survived by; her husband, S. A. Andrews, Buffalo, Tex.; her mother, Mrs. S. T. Stevens September 2009 Jeff T. Arnold Funeral services for Jeff T. Arnold of Gilbert were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, at First Baptist Church of Gilbert. Mr. Arnold died Christmas day in a local hospital after an illness of several weeks. He was 54 years old. Surviving Mr. Arnold are: his wife, Mrs. Lucille Arnold; two sons, Jeff T. and Edward E. Arnold, both of Savanna, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Bell Jones, Mrs. Gillis Emfinger, Mrs. Hazel Hewitt and Mrs. Madie Ezell, all of Gilbert; four brothers, Willie, Earl and R. B. Arnold, all of Gilbert, and Whitefield Arnold, Savanna, Tenn.; and three grandchildren. The Revs. Fred Guilbert and Tullos officiated at funeral rites. Interment was in Oakley cemetery. Belcher Funeral services for Mrs. H. F. Belcher were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tunica Baptist church, The Rev. George Douglas officiated. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery. Mrs. Belcher, who was 67, died at 11:30 Tuesday morning at Tunica County hospital. She had been ill for two months. The former Miss Etta Stephens, Mrs. Belcher was born December 27, 1895 at Gilbert. She attended schools there. She and Mr. Belcher, shom she married in 1915, moved to Tunica county, Miss., where he is engaged in farming in 1952. She was a Baptist. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. J. T. Stevens September 2009 Mrs. Fannie H. Chennault Final rites for Mrs. Fannie H. Chennault of Gilbert, aunt of the late General Claire Chennault, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gilbert Methodist church. The Rev. A. W. Coody officiated. Interment was in Oakley cemetery at Gilbert. Ninety-four years old on October 10, Mrs. Chennault died January 20 in a Monroe hospital. She was a native of Marlin, Tex., and a member of the First Methodist church of Gilbert and the WSCS. Surviving Mrs. Chennault are: three daughters, Mrs. L. E. Foxworth, Lafayette, Mrs. W. M. Scot, New Albany, Miss., and Miss J. J. Stribling, Bremerton, Wash.; two sons, Louie Chennault, Bremerton, Wash., and John Chennault, Gilbert; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Stevens September 2009 Randolph Benton Collins Funeral services for Randolph Benton Collins, retired farmer of Gilbert, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist church of Gilbert. The Rev. Mack Walker officiated. Born March 22, 1882 at Duck Hill, Miss., Mr. Collins had made his home at Gilbert about 40 years and was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist church. He died January 25 in a Winnsboro hospital after a long illness. Surviving Mr. Collins are: a son J. L. Collins, Winnsboro; four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Emfinger, Mrs. Lucille Arnold, Mrs. W. H. Ryder and Mrs. Nolan Kimble, all of Gilbert; two sisters; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Stevens September 2009 Aubrey Grady Corbitt A long illness claimed the life of Aubrey Grady Corbitt, former mayor of Gilbert, early today in a Sterlington clinic. He was 66 years old. A native of Calvin, Mr. Corbitt had lived in Gilbert since 1922 and served his community as mayor for several terms since 1934. He was a druggist and planter. Mr. Corbitt was a veteran of World War I, and a member of a number of pharmaceutical societies, Dan Gilbert lodge, F&AM, and the Atlanta Baptist church. For many years he was active in Boy Scout work in Gilbert. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mulhearn Funeral home. The Revs. J. W. Boyd and Clarence Young will officiate. Stevens September 2009 Mrs. E. Lee Ferrington Mrs. E. Lee (Emma Dixie) Ferrington died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at her home on route one, Wisner. She was 68 years old. A native of Wisner, where she was born November 20, 1904, Mrs. Ferrington was an active member of Central Baptist church and of the Wisner Order of Eastern Star chapter. She had taught Sunday school for 25 years. Funeral services for Mrs. Ferrington took place at 10 a.m. today at Central Baptist church, with the Rev. James Brown officiating. Eastern Star services and interment followed in Central cemetery. Survivors of Mrs. Ferrington are: her husband, E. Stevens September 2009 Dempsey Lee Hammett Funeral services for Dempsey Lee Hammett of 1003 Hickory street, Winnsboro, were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist church. The Rev. Joe Mongle officiated. A farmer, Mr. Hammett died January 14 at the local clinic. He was 72 years old. He was a native of Boas, Ala., where he was born April 9, 1891, and a member of Midway Baptist church. Surviving Mr. Hammett are: his wife, Mrs. Mary T. Hammett, Winnsboro; three sons, Roy Hammett, Altus, Okla., Ray Hammett, Big Sandy, Tenn., Leon Hammett, Rockdale, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Fay Leonard, Morgan City, Mrs. Dorothy Morgan, Altus, Okla., and Mrs. Ruby Walker, Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Newt Hammett, Jonesboro; and 16 grandchildren. Stevens, September 2009 Mrs. Sarah Frances Heath Mrs. Sarah Frances Heath, 84, died in a local clinic Monday following a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the New Light Baptist church with the Rev. Jimmy Sheppard and the Rev. Miles officiating. Burial followed in the Lone Cedar cemetery. Mrs. Heath, who had lived in Franklin parish for a member (sic number) of years, was a native of Paducah, Ky., and a charter member of the New Light Baptist church. She is survived by: two sons, Robert E. Brown, Tallulah, and Floyd Brown, Winnsboro; one sister, Mrs. W. H. Franklin, Crowville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were W. O. Oakley Lee, Pastor, officiated. Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery there. Mrs. Welch, sister of Mrs. J. B. Evans of Winnsboro, died Friday in the Welsh General hospital after a short illness. The former Miss Polly Blume, she had taught at Crowville and Gilbert. Services were held at Mulhearn’s Funeral home chapel. Interment was in Gwin cemetery. Mrs. Lobrano died Monday in a Rayville hospital after a short illness. A native of Alto and a member of the Mangham Baptist church she was postmaster at Manhgam’s first post office. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Tommy Prewitt, Winnsboro; Roy Lobrano, Mangahm; George Lobrano, Alto; Capt. Joseph Lobrano, stationed with the U. S. Born February 15, 1880 at Crittendon, Ky., Mrs. Lucas was a member of the Congregational church. She had made her home at Baskin for three years. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucas will be at Jennings Funeral home chapel in Rome, Ga. At 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6. Interment will be in Eastview cemetery at Rome. The body will lie in state at First National Funeral home today. Mrs. Lucas is survived by: four sons, J.Z. Lucas, Sr., Baskin, R. R. and O. E. Lucas, both of Rome, and W. A. Marionneaux, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Winnsboro. The Rev. Father John Mulkeen officiated. A rosary service was held in Mulhearn’s chapel at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial was in new Winnsboro cemetery. Mrs. Marionneaux was a native of Plaquemines and a member of St. Mary’s church. She died Saturday at the age of 82 in a local nursing home. Her final illness was lengthy. Survivors, in addition to Mayor Marionneaux are; two sons, Alvin L. Marionneaux of Port Arthur, Tex. and Ralph E. A native of St. Francisville, where she was born August 1, 1870, Miss Percy was a member of Grace Episcopal church, St. Francisville. Her final illness was lengthy. Funeral services took place in Grace Episcopal church at 3 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Father R. H. Goodman officiated. Interment was in Grace church cemetery at St. Francisville. Miss Percy, affectionately called “Aunt Nell” by friends leaves a number of nieces and nephews, including Miss Rowena Ramage, Mrs. Thomas E. Williamson and C. L. A retired farmer, Mrs. Talbert died at 8:40 a.m. January 28 in a Monroe hospital. He was born March 3, 1887 in Winn Parish. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Mattie Brownell Talbert, Winnsboro; two half-brothers, Lawrence Talbert, Winnsboro, and Henry Talbert, Columbia; four half-sisters, Mrs. Bess Risher, Mrs. Effie Lowe, Mrs. Leslie Talbert, all of Winnfield, and Mrs. Jane Barton, Grayson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
