McCarty ********************************************* The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA February 24, 1966 Submitted January 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Barnes Graveside funeral services at Oakley Cemetery, near Wisner, were to be held this afternoon for Mrs. Ollie Lee Barnes, 83, of Lufkin, Tex., who died there Wednesday morning. The Rev. Carlton Vance, Wisner Baptist minister, was to offficiate at the rites. Mrs. Lee who had resided at Lufkin for the past nine years, is survived by a daughter, Mrs. R. L. Wynn, Lufkin; a sister, Mrs. Ida Sorey, Monroe; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA February 24, 1966 Submitted January 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Geneva Jackson Eighty-three-year-old Mrs. Geneva Combs Jackson of Winnsboro was buried Tuesday afternoon in Myrtle Memorial Cemetery near here, following funeral services at the Winnsboro First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clarence Young, her pastor, officiating. Mrs. Jackson, who had been ill for a lengthy period, succumbed late Sunday in a hospital here. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Carrie Jackson Holcomb, Picayune, Miss,; a son, Robert C. Jackson, Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Wallace R. Smith of Winnsboro and Mrs. Albert M. Adams, Miami, Fla.; four grandchidlren and nine great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were L. Stanley Bryant, Shirley Evans, Martin Harris, E. T. McClung, C. W. Jones and Wallace Smith, Jr. ---------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA February 24, 1966 Submitted January 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Brinsfield King Brinsfield King, 39, of Baton Rouge, formerly of Winnsboro, succumbed to a brief illness Monday morning in a Baton Rouge hospital. He was a grandson of Franklin Parish's senior citizen, "Uncle Jim" King of Ft. Necessity, who is 111 years old. The funeral was Wednesday afternoon at Boeuf Prairie Methodist Church, Ft. Necessity, with burial in the cemetery there. Mr. King is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha King, Baton Rouge; a son, Brinsfield King, III, and two daughters, Karen and Mona King, all of Baton Rouge; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Brinsfield King, Sr. Baton Rouge, and his grandfather. ---------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA February 24, 1966 Submitted March 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd W. R. McCarty Wiley Robert McCarty, 80, of Winnsboro died Tuesday morning in a hospital here. He had been ill a long time. Final rites were held Wednesday afternoon. The funeral was at Boeuf River Baptist Church, and interment was in the Ogden Cemetery. Surviving Mr. McCarty are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. A. A. Moore of Ft. Necessity, Mrs. Dan Martin of Winnfield and Mrs. Dewey Polk of Winnsboro; two sisters, Mrs. Sam Willis, Shreveport, and Mrs. Nancy Jane Underwood, Sikes; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
