Womack ********************************************** ********************************************** --------------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA June 23, 1966 Submitted February 2010 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Cureington Last rites were conducted June 13 for 88-year-old Mrs. Cora Ella Cureington of Chase, who died after a long illness on June 11 in a nursing home at Wisner. The funeral was at First National Chapel, Winnsboro and burial was in the Chase Cemetery. Dr. L. W. Knight was the officiating minister. Mrs. Cureington is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Loyce Calhoun, Bastrop, and Mrs. I. C. Ford, Winnsboro; five sons, Willie and Clarence Cureington of Winnsboro, Ray Cureington of Chase, J. D. Cureington of Bossier City, and Genie Cureington, Alexandria; a brother, Martin Davis, Dry Prong; 29 grandchildren, 41 great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Dorman James Leon Dorman, Sr., 78, Route 3, Winnsboro, died unexpectedly June 9. He collapsed while talking to members of his family, outside at his residence. Funeral services were held June 10 at Sardis Baptist Church, and burial was in Lone Cherry Cemetery, Mangham. The Rev. Wayne Stroud and the Rev. Joe Mongle were the officiating ministers. Mr. Dorman is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Earnest McMurray and Mrs. Elaine Dupuy, both of Winnsboro; a son, James Leon Dorman, Jr., West Monroe, and 11 grandchildren. Stanley Thrift officating. Interment followed in Kings Cemetery under the direction of Riser First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. She died Tuesday, June 19, 1996. She was a 1993 graduate of Winnsboro High school and attended N.L.U. Surviors include her mother, Sandra Gravelle, Winnsboro, Her father Paul Gravelle, Winnsboro; grandparents, Llyod and Pauline Roberts of Wisner; Joe and Mary Gravelle, Winnsboro; great-grandparents Ruth Jones and Mary m. Gravelle, both of Winnsboro; aunt Vickie Head, Wisner; uncles Danny Roberts, Todd Roberts and Chris Roberts, all of Wisner, and Joe Gravelle and his wife Beth Ann, of Winnsboro; seven first cousins. Date: June 23, 1966 Headline: C. Q. Norman Funeral services for Charlie Quitman Norman, 90, were held June 14 at Boeuf River Baptist Church, Liddieville, and interment was in the Ogden Cemetery. The Rev. Connie Ward and the Rev. Harold Davis conducted the rites. Mr. Norman, who had been ill for an extended period, died June 13 in a nursing home in Delhi. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Daisy Underwood and Mrs. Theresa Simon of Winnsboro, Mrs. Geneva Malone of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Juanita Wright of Natchez; three sons, Jake Powell of Columbia, Elmer Norman of Rayville, R. L. (Tobe) Norman of Delhi, C. L. Norman of Choudrant, and Nathan Norman, who is stationed in Taiwan (Formosa); 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Perry Kent officiated at the services. Mrs. Winters is survived by her husband, Clayton Winters; five daughters, Mrs. Lucille Roy and Mrs. Elaine Smith of Ft. Worth, Tex., Mrs. Earline Simons, Misses Linda and Judy Winters of Winnsboro; four sons, Louis, Clayton Reed, J. W. Womack The Louisiana House of Representatives paused briefly Monday in Baton Rouge to honor the late Henry W. Womack of West Carroll Parish, the father of Franklin Parish Representative Lantz Womack. The elder Womack, 89, died late Friday at his home near Pioneer. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Goodwill Baptist Church, near Oak Grove, and burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Mr. Womack represented West Carroll Parish in the Louisiana Legislature for the 1920-24 term. His legislator son said his father never missed a vote. The Louisiana House and Senate both passes resolutions of condolences. Besides his Franklin Parish son, Mr. Womack is survived by four other sons, three daughters, a brother, 20 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. -----------------------------------------------------
