Wheelus ********************************************** ********************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA November 17, 1966 Submitted August 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Miss Ellen Herlong Funeral services for Miss Ellen Herlong, 55, of Pineville, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of First National Funeral Home here, with the Rev. James Burns officiating. Burial was in Lone Cedar Cemetery, near Winnsboro. Miss Herlong died at 8 p.m. Saturday at Pineville after a lengthy illness. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Melvine Ashley, and Mrs. Florence Thornton, both of Winnsboro, and Mrs. Louise Medcalf of Price, Tex.; and one brother, Richard Herlong of Monroe. Pallbearers were Bobby Joe Williams, Charles Fortenberry, George Holloway, Gene Ensminger, J. W. Dean and J. L. Eldridge. ------------------------------------------------------ The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA November 17, 1966 Submitted August 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd James Devon Peavy Funeral services for Spec. 4 James Devon Peavy, 20, who was killed November 8 in a motorcycle accident on Hawaii Island, 200 miles south of Honolulu, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Chase Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Rey McMurry and Claude Terrell officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery near here. Peavy, who was stationed at the Pohakuloa Military Training Area Base camp, apparently missed a narrow bridge and plunged 30 feet in a rocky stream below the bridge approach, police said. His body was found the following day by two fishermen. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Joanne Peavy, of Natchez, Miss.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Peavy of Winnsboro; four sisters, Mrs. Audrey Roberson of Port Allen, Miss Judy Lynn Peavy of Port Allen, and Miss Sheila Peavy and Miss Reba Peavy, both of Winnsboro; three brothers, John, Jacky, and Randy Peavy, all of Winnsboro; and his grandfather, Quiller Peavy of Winnsboro. H. Wheelus William Henry Wheelus, Sr., 66, of Rt. 5, Winnsboro, died at his home Thursday afternoon after a long illness. Funeral services were Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Winnsboro with the Rev. Charlie Moore officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lea Joyner. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. May Ola Wheelus, Winnsboro; five sons, W. H. Wheelus, Jr., and James Wheelus, both of Winnsboro; Willard, Mobile, Ala., Ralph, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Rogers Wheelus, Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Wells, Monroe; a foster brother, Shelby Wheelus, San Antonio, Tex.; 12 grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
