Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday at South Central Baptist Church near Wisner with the Rev. Harold Dunn officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. A. Hawthorne. Burial was in South Central Cemetery. Mr. Chapman, a service station operator, was a member of South Central Baptist Church. He was a native of Wisner and former owner-operator of Rosalie Nursing Home in Wisner. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Lee Chapman of Winnsboro; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Chapman of Wisner; four sons, Don Chapman of Shreveport, Larry Chapman, of New Orleans, R. G. Chapman and Roy Chapman, both of Winnsboro; one daughter, Miss Diane Chapman of Winnsboro, one brother, Alton Chapman of Imperial Beach, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. H. W. Ferrell of Edinburgh, Tex.; and a number of nieces and nephews. ---------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA April 17, 1969 Submitted May 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Fannie Elam Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Elam, 79, were held Saturday in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Douglas Williams officiating. Burial was in the Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, Miss., at 2 p.m., also on Saturday. Mrs. Elam died here early Friday after a short illness. She is survived by one son, George B. Elam. H. Garcin, Sr. Funeral services for Raleigh Hugh Garcin, Sr. 89, of Winnsboro, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Boeuf River Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Davis and Dr. Randall Sledge officiating. Burial was in the Ogden Cemetery. Mr. Garcin died Monday afternoon at Caldwell Parish Hospital in Columbia after a brief illness. He was a native of Franklin Parish and a member of the Boeuf River Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. R. H. Garcin, Sr., of Winnsboro; three sons, R. H. (Bill) Garcin, Jr., and Albert Garcin, both of Winnsboro, Douglas Garcin of Shreveport; three daughters, Mrs. L. L. Cloud of Monroe, Mrs. Harvey Davis of Winnsboro and Mrs. Alvah Bridges of Springhill; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Kenneth Garcin, Huey Garcin, Dale Cloud, Bill Crider, John Williams and the Rev. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at Turkey Creek Baptist Church near Gilbert with the Revs. Mack Walker and Carl Tubbs officiating. Burial was in South Central near Wisner. Survivors include one son, Robert Kinison of Jigger; two daughters, Mrs. Ollie Sproles of Bush and Mrs. Margaret Sproles of Gilbert, 32 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. ---------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun April 24, 1969 Submitted by: Karen McNease Henry McMurray Henry Ross McMurray 87 of Winnsboro, died Monday morning in the Riley Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the First National Funeral Home Chapel of Winnsboro with the Rev. McAlister officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Mr. McMurray was a native of Alabama and a retired railroad engineer. Norwood, 86, of Gilbert, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist church with the Rev. Sheldon Sharbono officiating. Burial was in the Oakley Cemetery. Mrs. Norwood died Sunday night in the St. Francis Hospital after a lengthy illness. Survivors include two sons, Asa Norwood of Winnsboro and Lee Norwood of Gilbert; one sister, Mrs. Tina Posey of Columbia, Miss.; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. ------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun April 24, 1969 Submitted by: Karen McNease Mrs. Melissa Lee Robinson Mrs. Melissa Lee Robinson, 86, of Gilbert, died Sunday afternoon in the Winnsboro Sanitarium after a long illness. Funeral services were at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the South Central Baptist Church near Wisner with the Rev. W. H. Hemphil and Son Warbington officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Robinson was a native of Franklin County, Miss., and a member of the Kendricks Ferry Pentecostal Church. Graveside services were held at Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert with Dr. Ben Oliphant officiating. Mr. Sherrouse died at his residence in Baton Rouge Saturday night after a brief illness. He was a real estate developer and a native of Gilbert. Funeral arrangements, under the direction of First National Funeral Home, are incomplete. Survivors include her husband, C. E. Spence of Winnsboro; three sons, J. R. Spence of Crowville, James L. Spence of Winnsboro, and Billy Spence of Morgan City; five daughters, Mrs. Vera Harper and Mrs. Eloise Russell, both of Jonesville; Janice Zimmerman of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Margaret Thornton and Mrs. Velma Dale, both of Denver, Colo.; four brothers, Mr. Leon Chapman of Delhi, T. W. Chapman of Liddieville, David Chapman and E. A. Chapman, both of Winnsboro; two sisters, Mrs. Idell McClemore of Tioga and Mrs. P. B. Carr, and 17 grandchildren.
