W. W. Holland officiating. Burial was in Oakley Cemetery near Gilbert. Mr. Aswell died Friday in the Concordia Parish Hospital in Ferriday following a long illness. A World War II veteran, he was a retired employee of the Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company in Natchez, Miss. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ivey W. Aswell of Vidalia, one son, James Aswell of Houston, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. Lorene George of Gilbert; one step-son, Charlie Cain of Vidalia; one brother, George Aswell of Winnsboro; eight grandchildren and a number of great- grandchildren. ------------------------------------------------ The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA October 19, 1972 Submitted October 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Henrietta Moore Funeral services for Miss Henrietta Moore, 78, of Winnsboro were at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First National Funeral Home with the Rev. A. D. St. Amant officiating. Burial was in the Crowville Masonic Cemetery. Miss Moore died at the Franklin Parish Hospital Tuesday after a long illness. She was a native of Winnsboro, a retired registered nurse and a member of the United Methodist Church of Wisner. Survivors include two brothers, Tommy Moore of Crowville and A. W. Moore of Wisner; and two sisters, Mrs. Pat H. Berry of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Clara Bell Chapman of West Monroe. --------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA October 19, 1972 Submitted October 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Nora Smith Reed Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Smith Reed, 89, of Wisner, were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the South Central Baptist Church with the Revs. Clois Cole and Sam Aucoin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Reed died early Monday at the Rosalie Nursing Home in Wisner after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Pleasant Hill, Miss., had resided in Franklin Parish for the past 56 years, was a member of the Woodman Circle and the Holly Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Patten of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Mary Ruth Moore of Simmesport; one sister, Mrs. Lucy McKee of Monroe; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA October 19,1972 Submitted Feb. 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Ivy Simon Funeral services for Ivy Simon, 84, of Winnsboro were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Boeuf River Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Gibson officiating. Burial was in Ogden Cemetery under the direction of First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Simon died Friday at Franklin Parish Hospital in Winnsboro after a long illness. A native of Sikes and a resident of Franklin Parish for the past 65 years, Mr. Simon was a retired farmer and cattleman and a member of the Boeuf River Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alma Dark Simon of Winnsboro; three sons, Roy Simon and Marion Simon both of Shreveport, and Blanchard Simon of Raceland; five daughters, Mrs. Tatie (sic) Katie Kemper and Mrs. Garland Kemper of San Bernadino, Calif., Mrs. Bonnie Thompson of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Doris Guzman of Fayetteville, Ark., and Mrs. Geraldine McGriffin (sic) McGiffin of Anaheim, Calif.; two brothers, Clarence Simon of Winnfield and Monroe Simon of Winnsboro; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
