Stroud Mrs. Mary Walton Mrs. Mary Wright ********************************************** ********************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA December 14, 1972 Submitted December 2008 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mrs. Delois Dunn Brown Accident on Saturday Claims Local Woman's Life Mrs. Delois Dunn Brown, 44, Winnsboro, died Saturday as a result of injuries received in a one-car crash on Robinson Road, State Highway #865. The Franklin Parish Sheriff's office reported that the accident occured about 7 a.m. as Mrs. Brown was returning home from her nurses aide work at the Franklin Parish Hospital. The car skidded, left the road, and struck a huge pecan tree in the front yard of Mrs. Mary Robinson's home. The impact of the collision centered on the driver's side door. Mrs. Brown was pinned inside the vehicle, and emergency workers labored for about an hour before freeing the still conscious victim. Mrs. Brown died a short time later while under treatment at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, where she had been transferred following the initial treatment at the Franklin Parish Hospital. Mrs. Brown worked at the Winnsboro High School Cafeteria. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Wendell Pool officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn's Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Survivors include her husband, Enoch Brown of Winnsboro; one son, Andy Brown of Winnsboro; two daughters, Miss Kathy Brown of Winnsboro and Mrs. Clorece Jones of Central; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Dunn of Winnsboro; one brother, Dr, Tuscon Dunn of Ruston; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Gwin, Mrs. Bonnie West, and Mrs. Loretta Lively, all of Winnsboro, and three grandchildren. ------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA December 14, 1972 Submitted December 2008 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Louis Carradine Funeral services for Louis Carradine, 77, of Wisner were at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Carradine died Saturday at Franklin Parish Hospital in Winnsboro after a brief illness. The Rev. H. P. Jenkins officiated at New Light Baptist Church with burial in Hope Estate Cemetery. A native of Richland Parish, Mr. Carradine was a deacon of the Baptist church for 25 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rosa Carradine of Wisner; six daughters, Mrs. Ruby Wren, Miss Molley Carradine, both of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Mertis Price, Miss Jessie Carradine, Miss Nina Davis, all of Wisner, and Mrs. Ida Brant of Monroe; three sons, Russell Carradine of Chicago, Lawrence Carradine and Henry Carradine, both of Wisner; three brothers, Jesse Carradine of Alabama, Robert Carradine of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lawrence Carradine of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Lavender of Monroe and Mrs. Mary Beasley of Rayville; 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Rev. Nathan Henderson, Dr. Randall Sledge and Rev. Earl Gibson officiated. Burial followed in Lone Cedar Cemetery. She died Saturday, Dec. 2, at Winnsboro Sanitarium. Mrs. Cruse was a native of Sikes and was a member of Lone Cedar Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons, Thomas B. Cruse, Monroe; Elbert Cruse and Reggie Cruse, both of Winnsboro; Lammie Cruse, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Monroe Cruse, Shreveport; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Ross, Mrs. Marvee Chesney and Mrs. Joyce Fain, all of Winnsboro; two brothers, Alvin Erskin and Avert Erskin, both of Winnsboro; one sister, Mrs. Vicie Brown, Grayson; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A retired farmer, Mr. Foster was a native of Mississippi and had lived in Franklin Parish since 1936. He was a member of Crowville First Baptist Church. Rev. Glen R. Messer and Rev. W. H. Bengston officiated. Burial was in the old Winnsboro Cemetery. Mrs. Godfrey died Friday, Dec. 15, at her residence after a lengthy illness. A native of Olla, Mrs. Godfrey lived in Winnsboro for 62 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. Survivors include four sons, Cicero Godfrey, Columbia, James I. Godfrey and J. E. Rev. Gayle Dean officiated. Burial was in the Gwin Cemetery in Mangham. Mr. Skinner died Sunday, Dec. 10, at his residence after a lengthy illness. Mr. Skinner, a native of Winnfield, had lived in Mangham for 36 years. He was a member of the NewLight Baptist Church and was a retired plumber. Burial followed in Holly Grove cemetery under the direction of First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mrs. Stevens died Tuesday night at Franklin Parish Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Bude, Miss., and had resided in Franklin Parish for the past 75 years. She was a member of the South Central Baptist Church and American Legion Auxilliary Diamond Hawthorne Unit No. 84. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Leona Roberts Sanson of Wisner; one step-son Jesse Cobb of Watson; two brothers, Jack Wallace of Chase, and Monroe Wallace of Jackson; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Williamson of Gilbert; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. The Rev. Robert McDonald officiated. Mrs. Stroud died Saturday morning at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Rayville after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Meadville, Miss., and had resided in Franklin Parish for the past 57 years. A member of the First Baptist Church of Crowville, Mrs. Stroud was also a charter member of the Waverly Home Demonstration Club. Survivors include one son, C. Burial was in the Ogden Cemetery under the direction of First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. A native of Summit, Miss., Mrs. Wright had resided in Franklin Parish for the past 60 years. She was also a member of the Boeuf River Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Irving Wright, Winnsboro; three sons, J. W.
