Johnson. -------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA January 7, 1976 Submitted by: Glenda Warner Boyd Olile Mae Richardson Cockeran Local Woman bomb victim in New York A Winnsboro native was one of 12 victims of a pre-New Year bombing in New york at LaGuardia Airport. Killed in the bombing blast was Mrs. Ollie Mae Richardson Cockeran, 39, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Richardson of 1215 Hickory in Winnsboro. The 39-year-old native of Winnsboro was a registered nurse and had lived in New York for approximately 20 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Truelight Baptist Church in Winnsboro with Rev. H.P. Jenkins officiating. The body was flown to Monroe where it arrived early Monday morning and was then transferred to Winnsboro for services directed by Richardson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Berryhill Cemetery. Mrs. Cockeran was killed December 29th whe a bomb exploded in the baggage area of the New York airport. According to relatives, she had gone to the airport to pick up a friend. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Patricia Perry of New York and Misses Alice, Gweneva and Evelyn Cockeran, all of New York; her parents of Winnsboro, four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Hayes, Mrs. Linda Essex, and Miss Johnnie Lee Richardson, all of Chicago and Mrs. Elizabeth Verdine of Denver. A member of St. Mary's, Mr. Sontino was the long time owner and operator of Winnsboro Shoe Hospital. A Rosary service, was held Wednesday, December 31st at 7 p.m., in the chapel.
