Cavitt Funeral services for Chandler Lewis Calvitt, 75, of Gilbert were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 27th in the Chapel of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home. Interment was in Oakley Cemetery with Rev. Oakley Edwards officiating. Survivors include one brother, H. M. Calvitt, Gilbert; one sister, Mrs. R. J. Eaton, New Mexico; one half bother, J. D. Calvitt, Gilbert; and one half sister, Mrs. Robert Johns, Wisner; and a number of nieces and nephews. Zion Methodist Church in Panola County, Tex., for Mrs. Mattie May Chandler of Bethany, La. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Officiating at the services were the Revs. Evert R. Miller and Robert Jolly. Mrs. Chandler, 69, died last Thursday at Panola General Hospital. She was a member of the New Hebron Baptist Church in Elyssian Fields. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Cannon of Winnsboro and Mrs. Christine Shaw of Panola; three sons, Johnny Dear of Elyssian Fields, Grady Stewart of Winnsboro and Charles Stewart of Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Woods of Baskin, Mrs. Nettie Rhodes of Shreveport, three brothers, Jimmie D. Interment was in Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home. A native of Texas he had resided in Winnsboro for the past 20 years. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Russell Elrod, Winnsboro; three sons, David Elrod, Winnsboro, Steve Elrod, Albuquerque, N.M., and Rodney Elrod, Monroe; two daughters, Candy Priest, Albuquerque, N.M., Peggy Warner, Winnsboro; one brother, C.D. Martin Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, for Homer C. Martin, 79, at the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home with the Revs. Clarence Young and Wayne Stroud officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery. Martin died Monday at St. Francis Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He had resided in Franklin Parish since 1910 and was a retired farmer and employee of Martin Bros. of Winnsboro. Martin was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clarence Martin of Winnsboro; one son, Charles Ray Martin of Shreveport; and two grandchildren.
