Mrs. Bessie Anderson

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie "Titter" Anderson, 74 of Winnsboro were held at 2 p.m., 
Wednesday, Sept. 3, in the Chapel of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home.
Interment was in South Central Cemetery in Wisner.
She died on September 1.
Survivors include one son, Buck Andrews, Vidalia; two daughters, Mrs. Lessie Mae LaBorde and 
Mrs. Ruth Hitt, both of Winnsboro; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Miss Lela Batey

Funeral services for Miss Lela Mae (Bell) Batey, 50, of Wisner were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, 
August 30, in Holly Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Lavelle Enterkin officiating.
Interment was in Holly Grove Cemetery under the direction of Winnsboro First National Home.
She died on August 29.
Survivors include one brother, Hugh Batey Jr., Jennings; and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Trahern and 
Mrs. Joyce Bass, both of Wisner.  
Pallbearers were Paul Beach, Stanley Carroll, Herbert Carroll, Robert Bass, Matthew Bass, 
Darrell Batey, Gary Batey and Randy Guidry.

Mrs. Gurtha Cupit

Funeral services for Mrs. Gurtha P. Cupit, 66, of Winnsboro were held at 2 p.m., August 29 in the 
Archibald Church of Christ with the Rev. Murphy Phillips Jr., and the Rev. J. W. Wright officiating.
Interment was in Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
She died on August 27.
Survivors include two sons, Huey Leon Taylor, Morton, Miss., and Charles M. Taylor, Baskin; two 
daughters, Mrs. Mary Kelly, Leesville, and Mrs. Annette Lee, Baskin, four brothers, Fellie Phillips, 
Archibald, Wayne Phillips, Baskin and Frelson Phillips and Cecil Phillips, both of Alexandria; 
two sisters, Mrs. Bertie Mae Dollar, Baskin and Mrs. Mary Belle Copeland, Alexandria; 
10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Preston Dollar, Sam Stephenson, Danny Phillips, David Phillips, 
Jimmy Phillips and Sammy Ray Phillips.

Irving Wright

Funeral services for Irving Wright, 75, of Winnsboro, were held at 3:30 p.m., 
in Boeuf River Baptist Church with Rev. C. T. Smith officiating.
Interment was in Ogden Cemetery near Winnsboro under the direction of Winnsboro 
First National Funeral Home. He died on August 30.
He was a retired construction worker for the Louisiana Department of Highways.
Survivors include three sons, John W. Wright, Lexington, Ky., James E. Wright, 
Natchez, Miss., and Donald Wright, Clinton, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. Maybelle Wynn, 
Ferriday; one half-brother, Jonice McMurray, Winnsboro; 
three sisters, Mrs. Annie Reagan, Kerman, Calif., Mrs. Nettie Johnston, and Mrs. Bertie Mae Killen, 
both of Winnsboro; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bud Johnston, Billy Ray Johnston, Cecil Russell, Harold Brown, and Charles Dickens.


Note: Mrs. Bertie Mae Killen was a half-sister.
