Lavelle McCain
 
Funeral services for Lavelle McCain, 65, of Winnsboro were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, 
Jan. 19, in the New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Claudie Jenkins officiating.
 
Interment was in New Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home 
of Winnsboro.
 
A native of Winnsboro, he was born May 5, 1918. He was a member and deacon of 
New Zion Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He died on Jan. 16, 1984, following 
a brief illness.
 
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Opal Nesbit McCain; one son, Jerry Lavell McCain, 
Winnsboro; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Wilson and Mrs. Sharon Ballaglia, both of 
West Monroe; one brother, D. N. "Ned" McCain, Newport, N. C.; four sisters, 
Mrs. Pauline Black, ElPaso, Texas, Mrs. Doris Heartwell, Alta, Calif., and 
Mrs. Elouise Atkinson, Baton Rouge; six grandchildren.
 
Pallbearers were Charles Smith, Eric Smith, Harold Robinson, Ray Carter, 
Jack Muckelrath and Wallace Williamson.
