Jean Williams Jr. ********************************************** ********************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA July 4, 1984 Submitted August 2009 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Mary Barlow Denham Burns Memorial services for Mary Barlow Denham Burns, 88 of Wisner, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5 in the First Baptist Church of Wisner, with the Rev. James Lamkin officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Mansfield Thursday afternoon under the direction of First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Burns died July 2 in Franklin Parish Hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 7, 1895 on Kenner Plantation near New Orleans to Albert Loudon Denham and Annie Mary Barlow Denham. She was a graduate of Morgan City High School and Louisiana State University, and taught home economics at Logansport High. She married Ellis Leon Burns April 12, 1917. The family moved to Ruston in 1946, where Mrs. Burns was active in Temple Baptist Church. She conducted the Good News Bible Class for the underprivileged in her home and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a volunteer English tutor for foreign students and their families at Louisiana Tech University. Mrs. Burns also was employed as an LPN at the Ruston Tuberculosis Hospital and the Children's Home. She moved to Wisner in 1975, where she has been active in the First Baptist Church. She was a resident of the Mary Anna Nursing Home in Wisner. Survivors include six daughters, Margaret Harlan of Oklahoma City, Okla., Ruth Oates of Duson, Helen Griffin of Clarksville, Tenn., Dorothy Young of Wisner, Louise Murphy of Arcadia and Alice McAdams of Clinton, Miss.; five sons, Leon Burns and Lloyd Burns, both of Shreveport, Bryan Burns of Greenville, Texas, John Burns of Houston, and David Burns of Tampa. Fla.; 28 grandchildren; and 24 great- grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Eubanks Funeral services for Cynthia A. Eubanks, 87, of Winnsboro, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, in the Chapel of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home. Interment was in Ogden Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Brown officiating. A native of Mangham, she was born Dec. 27, 1896. She died on July 9, 1984, following a lengthy illness. Survivors include one son, Lynn E. Eubanks, Winnsboro and one granddaughter, DeLynn Eubanks, Winnsboro.
