Interment will be in Ogden Cemetery with the Rev. Ray McMurray officiating. A native of Winnsboro, he was born Sept. 7, 1919. He was a farmer. He died on Feb. 8, 1988, following a lengthy illness. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ella Howell, Winnsboro; one son, Michael Wayne Howell, Fort Riley, Kans; one daughter, Linda Kay Howell, Winnsboro; three sisters, Thelma Harr, Winnsboro, Minnie Lee Smith and Sarah Lou Howell, both of Mississippi; two brothers, Charles Howell, Mississippi and Marshall Howell, Baton Rouge; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Clarence Cupp, Jim Cupp, Joe Cupp, Sam Langley Jr, Leon Davis and Wilburn Cupp. ******************************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA February 24, 1988 Submitted Feb. 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Alma Dark Simon Graveside services for Alma Dark Simon, 94, of Winnsboro, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 22, at Ogden Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Cardin officiating. Interment was under the direction of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home. A native of Winn Parish, she was born March 1, 1893. She was a housewife. She died on Feb. 19, 1988, following a brief illness. Survivors include one son, Marion Simon, Shreveport; five daughters, Katie Warwick, Sun City, Ariz., Bonnie Thompson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Doris Guzman, Tallahassee, Fla., Garland Kemper, Highland, Calif., and Geraldine McGiffin, Flagstaff, Ariz.; one brother, P. L. Dark, Liddieville; three sisters, Mrs. Willie Ferguson, Ferriday, Mrs. Audie McKnight (sic) Knight, California, Mrs. Bobbie McGraw, Shreveport; 16 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. ********************************************************************
