"Doc" Bennett, 78, Lubbock, Texas formerly of Monroe were held Friday at Winnsboro First National Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Kolb officiating. Interment followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home. Mr. Bennett died Wednesday at The Oaks Nursing Home in Monroe. He was a member of the New Hope Masonic Lodge #328 F.& A.M. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Redden, Baton Rouge; JoAnne Surratt, Monroe; four sisters, Elsie Dark, Winnsboro; Reavie McCalman, Homer; Lora Roland, Colorado Springs, Co.; Mirva Smith, Homer; one brother, Cedric Bennett, Winnsboro; four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Gerald Scriber, Charlie Ray Jennings, Milton Albritton, Gene Bennett, Ron Paris and J.P. Nealy. Sanders Funeral services for Rastus A. Sanders, 81, Ruston, formerly of Fort Necessity were held Saturday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston with the Rev. T. H. Mercer officiating. Graveside services were held at Ogden Cemetery in Liddieville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Mr. Sanders died Wednesday at Longleaf Nurse Care Center in Ruston after a lengthy illness. He was a retired construction worker. Survivors include his wife, Mida McClellan Sanders, Ruston; three daughters, Faye M. Jeffery, Las Vegas; Sherry L. Berl, Peru, Ind.; Lanelle Carlise, Casper, Wy.; five sons, William A. Sanders, Melbourne, Fla.; Malgene M. Sanders, Tallulah; Willie E. Sanders, Vicksburg, Miss.; Ronnie C. Sanders, Dubach, La.; David G. Sanders, Granbury, Texas; one brother, Bill C. Robinson, Winnsboro; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Mack Walker and the Rev. Karl Huff officiating. Interment followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home. Mr. Thornton died Tuesday at the Franklin Medical Center. Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie Harris, Winnsboro; Doris Armstrong and Betty Sanders, both of Gilbert; one brother, Otis Thornton, Gilbert; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Interment followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery near Winnsboro under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Welch died Wednesday at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe after a brief illness. Mrs. Welch was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Leo William Welch. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Rider, Winnsboro; two sisters, Delores Roberts and Murl Hicks, both of West Monroe; three brothers, Billy Osbon, West Monroe; Oliver Osbon, Ruston; Ray Osbon, Shreveport; two grandchildren, Angie Rider and Michael Rider, both of Winnsboro; one grand-daughter-in-law, Anglea Rider, Winnsboro.
