James Shepherd officiating. Interment followed at the George and Iva McBroom Cemetery near Baskin under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. McBroom retired in 1987 after a 40 year tenure as a Registered Nurse. She received her nursing diploma from Mercy Hospital. Survivors include her husband, George McBroom, Baskin; four daughter, Rose Mary Thompson, West Monroe; Joan McBroom-Taylor, Rayville: Tami Oglesbee, Oak Grove; Lana Cowart, Baskin; one son, George Thomas McBroom Jr., Baskin; one sister, Estelle Pepper, El Dorado, Ark.; one brother, Wesley Travis Lawrence, Clarksdale, Miss.; eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Basil "Buck" Wilson, Joe Neal Lord, Buck Lawrence, Bobby O'Neal, Johnnie Thomas. --------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA March 17, 1993 Submitted Feb. 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd JoAnne Bennett Surratt Funeral services for JoAnne Bennett Surratt, 57, of Monroe were held Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, Sterlington Rd., with the Rev. Bradley Trimble officiating. Burial followed at Ogden Cemetery in Liddieville. Mrs. Surratt died March 8, 1993 at her residence. Mrs. Surratt was a member of the Annie B. Bennett Chapter of the Eastern Star, a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a long time business woman in the community. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law EfAnne and Mark Strumpell of Plano, Texas; sister, Glenda Bennett Redden of Chattanooga, Tenn.; nephews, Bruce Bennett Redden, New York City; and Bart Redden, Chattanooga, Tenn; niece, Roxanna Redden, Chattanooga, Tenn.; and a host of friends and relatives. Pallbearers were Hank Strumpell, Bart Redden, Kevin Jones, Bob Jones, John Euchaski and Ellard Brantley.
