Fortenberry Funeral services for Mr. James T. Fortenberry, 79, of Winnsboro were held Friday, May 23, at the chapel of Community Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. James Burns, Rev. Robbie Robison, and Rev. Michael Couch officiating. Interment followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Fortenberry died Thursday, May 22, 1997 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro after an extended illness. He was a native and resident of Franklin Parish, a retired farmer and was a member of the Pentecostal faith. He is preceded in death by one brother, Robert Fortenberry and one sister, Myrtle Hilbun. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Marie Ashley Fortenberry of Winnsboro; his children, Bobby Ray Fortenberry, Dixie Marie Milton, Jerry Neal Fortenberry, Judy Dianne Brown, all of Winnsboro and Donna Sue Brown of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Irene Carraway of Wisner, Lucille Ellerbe of Columbia; two brothers, Tommy D. Fortenberry of Cape Girardeau, Mo., J.W. Fortenberry of Winnsboro; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Rickey Fortenberry, Scott Fortenberry, Terry Milton, Chad Hatton, Shane Fortenberry and Shawn Fortenberry. Jesse Booth, Rev. Floyd Hawthorne and Rev. Mark Floyd officiating. Interment followed in Ogden Cemetery in Liddieville under the direction of Riser First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Simons died Thursday, May 1, 1997 at North Monroe Hospital. He is survived by his wife Earline Winters Simons of Liddieville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Freda and Chris Nielsen of Crowville, Candy and Mark Massey of Liddieville; one son Neal Simons of Liddieville; one sister, Dorothy Tarver of Liddieville; one brother, Charles Simons of Winnsboro; five granddaughters, Jenna, Emily and Kelsie Massey, and Brandy and Regan Nielsen; three nephews, Kenny Simons, Larry and Garland Tarver.
