Jimmy Harper officiating. Interment will follow at South Central Cemetery near Wisner under direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mr. Ezell died Tuesday, November 18 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Shreveport. Mr. Ezell was a resident of Gilbert and a retired restaurant owner. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Emma Ezell; a half sifter: Versie King. Survivors include his wife: Hazel Ezell of Gilbert; seven sons: Stan and wife Mary, Wayne and wife Donna, all of Winnsboro, Douglas and wife Collis of Shreveport, Archie, Jr. and wife Phyllis, Tommy , all of Gilbert, James of West Monroe, Jody and wife Donna of Liddieville; one sister: Dollie Hickman of Dublin, GA; one brother: Lovie Ezell of Gilbert; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great- grandchildren. ********************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA November 5, 1997 Submitted April 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Sam E. Gill Private services for Sam E. Gill, 63, of Winnsboro were held Sunday with inurnment at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Gill died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was a native and resident of Franklin Parish, a member of Philadelphia Church of God and served in the United States Navy. Survivors include his wife, Gladys C. Gill, Winnsboro; one daughter, Shelia T. Stevenson, Houston, Mo.; two sons, Barron E. Gill and Jimmie D. Gill, both of Winnsboro; one sister, Gloria Ann Ezell, Winnsboro; one brother, James E. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Community Memorial Funeral Home chapel, Winnsboro with Rev. S. B. Boyett and Rev. Ronald burns officiating. Burial will be at Coax Cemetery Near Winnsboro. Mrs. Jackson was a resident of Baskin, a homemaker, and a member of Baskin Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Morris "Jim" Jackson, and a son, J.W.Jackson. Survivors include her daughter: Hazel Juanita Jackson of Winnsboro; two sons: James Marvin Jackson of Odessa, TX, Marion Jackson and wife, Bonnie of Baskin; one daughter-in-law: Barbara Waller Jackson of Odessa, TX; one brother: Debs Fletcher of Baskin; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Saturday , November 22, 1997 from the Columbia Chapel of Riser Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. Interment followed in the White Swan Cemetery at Fort Necessity. Mrs. Jones , a homemaker, died Thursday , November 20, 1997 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia following an extended illness. Annie Mae Jones was born in Jonesboro, La. on May 6, 1915 to the union of John Howard Paul Sr. and Annie Laura Maier Paul.. Riser Funeral Home Winnsboro, LA WINNSBORO, LA - Services for Joseph Woodrow Pankey, Sr., 83 of Winnsboro will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 1997 at Riser First National Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro with Rev. Charles Langford officiating. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m.Sunday at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston, LA. Mr. Pankey died Friday, November 21, 1997 at his residence. Joe Pankey had been a resident of Winnsboro since 1946, when he and J. H. Colvin established the Winnsboro Wholesale Grocery, and served the people of the surrounding area until their retirement in 1987. Prior to coming to Winnsboro, Mr. Pankey resided in Ruston, graduating from Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech. He served during World War II with the Army's Seventh Armored Division in the European Theatre, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds received in the infamous Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Pankey was a member of Winnsboro First United Methodist Church, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Former Member of Twin Oaks Country Club. Before ill health prevented, such activities, Mrs. Pankey was an avid sportsman, enjoying baseball, football, golf, and hunting of all kinds. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Katherine Tooke Pankey of Winnsboro; two sons and their families: Dr. J. Woody Pankey and wife Phyllis and sons, Mark and Ron of North Ferrisburg, VT, and Dr. Lee R. Pankey and wife Sharon and children, Todd, Sarah, and Katie of Monroe; brother: Harry Pankey of Monroe; nephews: Whit Pankey of Rogers, AR, Joe Harry Pankey of Baton Rouge, LA; niece: Paige Pankey Sims of Mer Rouge, LA. Mr. Templeton worked for the State Highway Department for 37 years as a Specialty Engineer. His hobbies were playing dominoes with friends and traveling. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Linnie Templeton,and father, "Abe Templeton", a brother and sister, all of Mangham.
