"Bill" Young Sr., 79, of Winnsboro were held Saturday at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Floyd Hawthorne and the Rev. Mark Powell officiating. Interment followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Young died Friday, June 11, 1999 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. He was a resident of Winnsboro, retired with the Louisiana Department of Transportation, member of VFW Post 3155 Winnsboro, member and chaplain of Northeast La. Chapter 331 of Purple Heart and Northeast La. Chapter of American Ex POW's. Mr. Young served with the United States Army during WWII and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sara Young; and a sister, Mattie Stuckey. Survivors include his wife, Gladys S. Young, Winnsboro; children, Carolyn Treno, West Monroe; William E. Young Jr., Orlando, Fla.; and Nancy Young, Baton Rouge; four grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Donnie Wright, Ricky Nichols, Marvin Cruse, Simmie Ray Welch, Edward Welch and Dell Davis. Honorary pallbearers were members of VFW Post 3155, NE La. Chapter 331 of Purple Heart, NE La. Chapter of American Ex POW's. Memorial preferred to Military Order of the Purple Heart, P. O.
