Mr. Bearden died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001 after an extended illness. He was a resident of Wisner, retired truck driver, a member of the Baptist faith, and served in the Coast Guard during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Olice Bearden, Wisner; three daughters, Kathie Turner, Wisner; Ann Ensminger and Charlotte Robinson, both of Baton Rouge; a son Donnie Bearden, Prairieville; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Larry Eubanks and the Rev. Lee Piercy officiating. Burial followed at South Central Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Braswell was born January 10, 1921. She went home on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001. Mrs. Braswell was a lifelong resident of the Wisner community, and a very active member of South Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Emma Ferrington; her husband, Lige Braswell Sr.; a grandchild, Tonya Allbritton; a great-grandchild Andrea Bass; two brothers, Harry and Bud; and her sister, Ruby. Survivors include a son, Lige A. She was called home to be with the Lord on the morning of November 4, 2001 at the age of 78. Mrs. McDonald was born April 29, 1919, in Grant Parish near Pollock, La., to parents, Oliver Larkin Corley and Ellen Paul Corley. She was married to S.T. McDonald Sr., on March 5, 1936. The two of them celebrated their 65th anniversary together in the company of family and friends this year. Mrs. McDonald will be remembered by most people in Franklin Parish for her friendly smile and caring manner as a floor manager for the T.G.&Y store in Winnsboro. She began working there when the store was opened and remained until its closure, and her retirement after 21 years of faithful service. Mrs. McDonald was a member of Baskin Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped rear her children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Mrs. McDonald is preceded in death by four siblings, Bertha Corley Gurganus, Gertie Corley Jackson, Earl Corley, and George C. Corley, as well as one child who died in infancy and one great-grandchild, Whitney Bombardier, who recently died after having battled a rare and fatal disease from which she had suffered since birth. Mrs. McDonald is survived by her friend and partner in life, her beloved husband, S.T. McDonald Sr., as well as by two sisters, Onedra Corley Swearengin and Lottie Mae Corley Owers, who both reside in Pollock. Surviving children who live in Winnsboro, include one daughter, Elaine McDonald Wiltshire and husband, James and two sons, Charles McDonald and wife, Sue, and S.T. McDonald Jr., and wife, Janis. One son William Earl McDonald, currently resides in San Diego, Calif. Grandchildren include; Judy Wiltshire Pickering of Mangham, Jennifer McDonald Tarver and Carol McDonald of Winnsboro and Misty McDonald Bombardier of Milford, Texas. Great-grandchildren are R.J. Posey, Jonathan and Sara Tarver, and Serenity and Joey Bombardier. Services were conducted by Rev. Buford Brady and Rev. Paul Kolb at 2 pm. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Baskin Baptist Church in Baskin. Smith Funeral services for John A. Smith, 78, of Winnsboro were held Friday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Basco officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001 at Franklin Medical after a sudden illness. He was a resident of Franklin Parish, retired farmer and served in the United States Army during WWII under General Patton. He was a deacon and member of New Zion Baptist Church for over 54 years. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Victoria Jones.
