Mr. Austin passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at his home after a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by his father, William John "Bill" Austin Sr.; grandparents, John Austin, Mary Austin Burch, Edgar "Hooks Vines, Bessie Davis Vines and step-grandmother Lois McMurray Vines. Leon Ward officiating. Burial followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Fowler was born March 5, 1912 in Franklin Parish and passed from this life on April 18, 2002 in Tyler, Texas. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Fowler, and daughter, Irma Marie Fowler. Survivors include one daughter, Hilda E. St. Pierre, Tyler, Texas; three sons, Douglas A. Fowler, Bossier City; James M. Fowler and John W. Fowler, both of Winnsboro; foster sister, Addie Marie Brown, Winnsboro; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alan Miller and the Rev. William Busby officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Church Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Humphries was born December 9, 1930 in Franklin Parish and died Saturday, March 30, 2002 at Franklin Medical Center. He was a deacon and active member of Temple Baptist church and was a retired business instructor at Northeast La. Technical College in Winnsboro. He was active in youth sports in Winnsboro. Mr. Humphries was preceded in death by his parents, George Christian and Florence Humphries; and three brothers, Tommy, Clyde and Billy Humphries. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Bettye Jo Humphries; two children, Joanna and Tiger Hutchinson, Delhi; Lowell and Tammy Humphries, Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Meagan, Logan, Jordan, and Austin Hutchinson and Cain Humphries; one sister, Margie Nell Wiggins, West Monroe; two brothers, Edward Humphries and Calvin Humphries, both of Winnsboro; and a host of nieces and nephews. Burial followed at Gethsemane Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Lain died Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at Franklin Medical Center following a brief illness. David Myers, Rev. Roland Kratzer and Rev. Tom Gunung officiating. Burial followed at Oakley Cemetery near Gilbert under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Members of the VFW #3155 conducted a flag presentation ceremony. Mr. Myers died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Magnolia Living Center. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and worked many years for Terry Bass and Cajun Boat Company. He was also a retired minister. Mr. Myers was preceded in death by infant son, Chester Eugene Myers. Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Opal Myers; children, Rev. David Myers and wife Carolyn, Thomas Daniel Myers; Linda Marie Riemenschneider and husband Harry; Willis Arthur Myers and wife Martha; Paul Joseph Myers and fiancee Tammi Nettles; 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was a past resident of Franklin Parish, a homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church Archibald. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Marshall Slade and two sons, Donald C. Slade and Robert Marshall Slade.
